Adobe Reader, previously referred to as the Acrobat Reader, is a software application developed by a computer software company known as Adobe Systems. This application is used to open and print electronic documents with a Portable Document Format (PDF) file format. You can download it for free from the company's website. Adobe Reader has gone through many upgrades and modifications, which is why newer versions have been coming up occasionally.

There are many problems that can be related to Adobe Reader; which can be issues in downloading, installation, and running. If you are getting pop-ups error messages when you are using the application to view the files, the problems seem to be more complicated. These kinds of errors can relate to the PDF file being corrupt or the computer processing being insufficient for handling these huge data files.

Repair
If you are facing issues in downloading the setup file from the web, then you first need to check the obvious. This includes checking if you have adequate space on the hard drive for the setup file to be stored. It is also suggested to deactivate any firewalls or security settings if any on the browser. After the setup file is downloaded successfully, if you are facing issues during the installation process, you can download the file the second time and then try if the installation works. You may even check the installation on another PC to make sure there is a problem with the setup file.

In case the application is running smoothly, and suddenly hangs up; wait for some minutes for the system to respond. If the problem still persists, you may consider to update the present version of the software. A good idea is to uninstall the application, and reinstall it back again. Click on 'Start', select 'Control Panel', double click on 'Add or Remove Programs', locate and highlight the 'Adobe Reader' option from the list shown, and click on the 'Change' button. You will view the Adobe Reader setup window on which you need to click 'Next'. Select the 'Repair' button, click on 'Next', and finally select 'Install' for initiating the system to execute the repair process.
