Adding Hardware for Your Guitar Strap
Surprisingly not all guitars are equipped for a guitar strap, so you need to learn how to attach the hardware to get this to work.
If you've ever bought a guitar you're going to find that some makes have the hardware for a strap, while others completely don't have it. There are a number of reasons why this is the case. A lot of types are designed for people that sit as they play, so they don't need a strap. You may like that particular type of guitar, but want to have the ability to stand up. Attaching a strap becomes a little more difficult because you don't have anything to attach it too. I'm going to show you how you can add hardware to your guitar, so you can use a strap.
I want to start by giving you a method that you can apply without actually having to do any hardware work. This is the safest way to go if you're afraid that you might damage your guitar. What you can do is tie one end of the strap around the neck of the guitar. Make sure it is above the bolt, so it doesn't slip off. Attaching the other end is a little more difficult, but what you can do is make a look with the end and add a hook. Use the hook on the sound hole of the guitar and you have yourself a strap.
If you're someone that likes to see things done right than you're going to want to attach the actual hardware. Basically, you want button snaps attached on each end of your guitar for the strap. This isn't that hard, but doing it the first time can be a little nerve racking. You have to drill holes into a solid part of your guitar. The hole needs to be a little smaller than your screw, so you don't have to worry about it popping out. Doing this the first time will be a little tough, but after you do it a few times you won't have a problem.
