Adam Richard Sandler was born on the 9th of September, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York. His father Stanley Sandler was an electrical engineer and his mother Judy was a nursery school teacher. Adam Sandler is Jewish.
When he was 5, the family moved to Manchester, New Hampshire where he attended Manchester Central High School. He then went on to the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in 1991.
In 1999, during the filming of ‘Big Daddy’ he met Jacqueline Samantha Titone. She was cast as a charming waitress in The Blarney Stone Bar. They married in 2003. Their child, Sadie Madison Sandler was born in 2006.
Adam Sandler Movies: Career
From the age of 17, Sandler performed in comedy clubs. It was here that he was noticed by Dennis Miller who then recommended him to the producer of ‘Saturday Night Live’. After that Sandler was hired as a writer for the show and a year later began to appear on the show as well. He also acted on ‘The Bill Cosby Show’ from 1987 to 1988 and was a performer on MTVs game show ‘Remote Control’.
In 1989, he starred in ‘Going Overboard’ which was quite successful. But real success came with ‘Billy Madison’ in 1995, ‘Happy Gilmore’ in 1996, and ‘The Wedding Singer’ in 1998. When ‘The Waterboy’ was released in 1998, Adam Sandler was recognized as a super star.
This was followed by ‘Big Daddy’ in 1999, ‘Little Nicky’ in 2000, ‘Anger Management’ in 2003, ‘ 50 First Dates’ in 2004, ‘Click’ in 2006 among others which ensured that this super-star stayed put in Hollywood.
Audiences love his brand of goofy slapstick humor. However, Adam Sandler has also played some serious roles in movies such as ‘Punch Drunk Love’ in 2004 where he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award. He also played a more serious role in his 2004 release ‘Spanglish’ and ‘Reign Over Me’ in 2007.
In another recent movie ‘I Pronounce You Chuck and Larry’ he plays the part of a New York City fireman who pretends to be gay for an insurance scam so that his friend’s children can reap the benefits.
He will be starring next in ‘You Don’t Mess With The Zohan’ where he plays a Mossad Agent who fakes his own death and comes to the United States and becomes a hair stylist. He would also be starring in ‘Bedtime Stories’ where he plays the part of a real estate developer who reads bedtime stories to his niece and nephew, only to find out that they are coming true.
