What is Acupressure?
Acupressure is actually a traditional Chinese medicine technique. The principle used in acupressure is same as that of acupuncture. The difference in both these techniques is that acupressure uses finger and fingertips to stimulate the pressure points, whereas acupuncture uses needles. Along with the fingers and fingertips, elbows and feet also can be used to stimulate the pressure points. There are a number of benefits of using acupressure. It increases the blood circulation in the area of stimulation, at the same time, it also causes the release of endorphins, which are the natural painkillers in the body. It is also a great muscle relaxant.

Acupressure for Nausea
There are many pressure points in the body. You will have to find the right pressure point to stop nausea with acupressure at the earliest. Let us now find out which are the acupressure points for nausea. To find the first point, place your middle and index finger on your wrist at the base of your palm. You will have to place your fingers two or three fingers away from the top crease of the wrist. This point is located in the groove between the two large tendons and is known as P6 point or 'inner gate'.

There is another pressure point, which also brings relief for nausea. It is although, a little difficult to locate. This point is known as ST36 or 'three miles'. To find this point, you will have to measure one hand below the kneecap. Now with your fingernail press on the outer side of the bone. I understand, it is difficult to locate the 'three miles' pressure point. However, here is another pressure point, which is easier to find. This point is also located on the wrist. To locate this point, leave about three fingers distance from the wrist. Exactly at the center, press firmly on the points on both the sides of the wrist. You can use this point, whenever you feel nauseous.

Now, let us see other acupressure cures for nausea. According to me, this is the simplest of them all. Simply rub your wrist on one another to relieve yourself of the discomfort and the bad feeling. If you also have heart burn, poor digestion, diarrhea, there is a pressure point located exactly in between your sternum and your belly button. Massage this pressure point, to see all the problems run away.

It is important to note, when you are using acupressure to treat any of your problems, always apply pressure on both sides. For example, if you use the pressure point on the right wrist, use the pressure point on the left wrist as well. This will help in balancing the pressure points. When you are using acupressure for nausea on your own, take care that you are breathing deeply. Make sure your attention is focused on the acupressure point, when you are applying stimulation. This will help in increasing the effects of acupressure as well as, it will be sure you are using the right point. If you are feeling uncomfortable due to the pressure, it means that you are applying too much of pressure. For best results, start using the pressure points as soon as you start feeling nauseous and continue the same till the feeling subsides.
