Acne or Cystic Natural Treatment: Which Works Better?

Cystic acne is one of the most severe forms of acne vulgaris. Cystic acne may be similar to a nodule in size, but is pus-filled, and may have a diameter of 5mm or more. Cysts originate deeper in the skin than typical pimples and the lesions can be very painful and commonly produce scarring. Treatment of existing cystic acne and prevention of future acne lesions is necessary to avoid additional scarring and to help heal and diminish acne scars that exist. There are treatments your doctor can prescribe that can be helpful for cystic acne sufferers. If you prefer herbal and vitamin treatments for acne, cystic natural treatments are also available including detoxification and natural herbal supplements and topical acne products.

Dermatologists may decide to drain severe lesions and prescribe antibiotics to reduce inflammation. Cortisone injected into
the cysts to decrease inflammation is another treatment for cystic acne. Accutane is used by many dermatologists for severe cystic acne vulgaris. Accutane is very effective but its use must be restricted in women of childbearing age since it is critical that women are not pregnant and do not get pregnant while taking Accutane. Women who decide to take Accutane must use an appropriate birth control method for 1 month before therapy begins, during the entire course of therapy, and for 1 full month after therapy stops. Some physicians require that 2 methods of birth control are used during this time. Your doctor should be consulted about when it is safe to get pregnant after therapy with Accutane has stopped to diminish chances of severe birth defects. Accutane has also been proven to cause depression in some people so care must be taken to watch for any change in mental health. Blood tests will need to be performed during acne therapy with Accutane.

Accutane is 80 percent effective in controlling or "curing" cystic acne but as mentioned it requires many precautions and doesn’t work for everyone. Some people believe that detoxification is a major help to sufferers of cystic acne with the belief that as long as the root cause of acne is not fixed, it is always going to reoccur. Detoxification normally involves a special diet to cleanse the system and restore the intestines to normal functioning. The addition of mild, natural products
could then be applied topically to aid healing the skin of acne lesions.
