Aching Bones
A condition where a person experiences pain and discomfort in the bones is a common occurrence. Read on to find out more about aching bones.

Causes of Aching Bones
Cause 1
The most obvious and common reason is an injury, which in most cases is a fracture or a hairline fracture. A fracture, as we all know, is a really painful occurrence and is the worst thing a bone can go through. Sometimes, even it is not a fracture, an injury which has a major impact can also lead to pain.
Cause 2
This condition is mostly related to the old age. With age, the bones and joints undergo wear and tear and that leads to pain. As they have been continuously used for a long time, they show signs of overuse, mostly in the form of pain.
Cause 3
If there is a bone infection, needless to say, it would lead to pain in joints. Acute or chronic form of infection is called osteomyelitis. Pain in the bones is one of the most prominent symptom of this disease.
Cause 4
As quite a few amongst us must be knowing, osteoporosis refers to thinning, loss of bone density and thinning of tissue. This is another very common problem associated with this problem.
Cause 5
When cancer starts from the bone itself (primary malignancy), a person can experience pain. Sometimes, the cancer starts some place in the body and then it spreads over to the bones, leading to pain and other complications.
Cause 6
Another cause is leukemia. It is cancer of blood or bone marrow. Needless to say, leukemia seems to be a very obvious reason for this condition.
Cause 7
In case there is a disruption of a blood supply, for instance, any condition related to anemia, there is a lot of possibility of pain and tenderness in bones.
Cause 8
Fracture occurring in toddlers is another reason. It is a type of a stress fracture.
To add to all these reasons, pregnancy is another common cause. The hip, back and pelvic bones are especially affected during pregnancy. This is because the hormones secreted during pregnancy lead to relaxation of ligaments holding bones together. Arthritis too can lead to this painful condition.
Treatment Options
Treatment depends on the root cause of the pain. It is better to go and see the doctor immediately in case of unexplained bone pain and tenderness. Some of the medicines which the doctor would prescribe in a normal scenario are antibiotics, hormones, anti-inflammatory medicines, pain relievers and even laxatives. In apparently serious cases, an X-Ray or blood test may be required.
It will eventually also depend on the extent of the seriousness and allied symptoms in conjunction to aching bones. But one thing is sure, it should not be ignored or shrugged off whatsoever! Take care!
