Is anyone really surprised? Carter proposed to Peniche September 16 onstage in front of 200 people at the Playboy Hollywood Comedy Tour. Originally Carter planned to marry Peniche in a Vegas chapel, but luckily decided to just propose. Just after the proposal, Peniche called Carter the "most genuine" person she knows and said "I love him so much." Reportedly the two had only known each other for a whopping five-days before getting engaged… practically a lifetime in Hollywood.
Carter called Ryan Seacrest’s L.A. radio show Monday and confirmed that the couple had broken off their engagement. He told Seacrest, "It was a big blur. It wasn’t a big deal. I made a mistake and she made a mistake, too." He claims that someone suggested the proposal as a joke and Carter said, "Alright, I’ll do it." How romantic can you get? 18-year old Carter said, "I got caught up in the moment and proposed. I then realized it was a hasty thing to do and I am not ready for marriage quite yet." Obviously.
The engagement was reportedly called off Friday. Carter claims he called off the engagement and Pencihe, 22, said it was a "mutual decision." Peniche reportedly said, "He’s really young and just needs to get his act together. I don’t know what’s going on right now. We’re friends and maybe we’ll get back together sometime. We haven’t ruled our getting back together." It was reported that Carter’s older brother Nick dated Peniche, a rumor that he denies, but he did admit he "hooked up with her." Nick said, "I don’t like her. I feel bad for my brother. He was looking for love." Looking for love is one thing…but proposing to someone after five-days is another…
