A Woman's Journey

She looks in the mirror and sees a stranger...
A Woman's Journey
Wide-eyed, innocent, new,
Skin as soft as kitten,
Breath as fresh as the dew.
Her walk cajoles,
Her touch compels,
A single sultry glance
Puts you under her spell.

She is woman and child,
Aware of her power.
Her weakness
Is her strength;
The whole world
Her oyster.

She is a MAIDEN.

Her head held high,
Her steps sure,
Her gaze is clear
She knows her measure.
She has spread her wings,
And explored life –
She has left her youth behind.

She is mother,
Partner, wife.
Her strength
Is her beauty,
Her vulnerability
Her pride.

She is now a MATRON.

Weathered skin, tired eyes,
Her body is weak
But her mind still bright.
Her glory has faded,
Her passions jaded.
She is wise to the world,
And to all that it holds.

Her heart is pure,
Her tale yet untold.
She listens and waits
For what life will unfold.
They call her crone,
And they are wrong.

She is WOMAN: there, but almost forgotten.
