A Witch's Destiny - Ch. 6
Diane got bitched at by Logan, Thomas and Diane meets at the park...
Diane is sitting on the couch with Brad beside her, listening to the vampire's conversations.
"If you were that close, why didn't you kill him!" Logan growled. "You may not see him again!"
Diane felt useless. So close for the kill, but let her emotions get in her way.
"Shut up, Logan! It's not an easy job for her." Brad stood up and yelled.
"Why didn't you kill him! She's turning out like him, isn't she!" Logan hissed.
Diane heart stung at that comment. She closed her eyes and held back tears.
"Leave her alone!" Brad harshly said, getting into Logan's face.
Logan pushed Brad out of his way and then said, "she casted a spell on you, that's why you're sticking up for her."
Diane quickly got up and ran outside. She couldn't take it anymore. The faint breeze soothing out some pain.
She stopped a taxi and got in. She told the driver to take her to a park and so the driver obeyed. Ten minutes later she got to the park.
"Fifty dollars." the driver's voice is hoarse.
"Here you go." Diane smiled and walked towards the park.
There's a pond, playground, benches, trees everywhere; so Diane walked over to the big oak tree and sat down at the trunk.
She started to cry, holding back her anger and frustration from everybody. Diane can still hear Logan's words rattle around, which made her even more mad.
"Diane?" said a voice.
She turned her head and saw Thomas coming towards her, his features still the same, the same black hair, blackeyes, but his face showed concern.
"Leave me be." she sobbed.
"Don't listen to Logan, he's overly protective with his wife, Savannah. He wants the world to be safe for her and his child, and so do I but this job will be difficult." Thomas knelt down beside her. "I'm certain that you're not evil. But I have one question, why didn't you kill him? You were so close."
Diane wiped her eyes and sighed, "I really don't have the heart to kill somebody. They'd kill me before I got anywhere. The witches picked the wrong person."
"No they didn't." Thomas placed a hand on her shoulder. "Everything happens for a reason and don't make people tell you different."
Diane started to realize Thomas is right. Life happens the way it goes.
"Thanks." Diane said.
Thomas quickly got up and stared off to the distance. His gaze reached to the pond and saw a figure there.
"Diane. It's him."
Diane quickly got up and looked.
"I'll stop him." Thomas said.
"No, Erika needs you."
"And so does Brad!" he growled.
"I can't leave you!" she whined.
Suddenly shadow creatures materialized around them, posed for fighting.
"Hmm, I knew I'd find you again."
Diane shuddered to the voice.
"Stay away from Diane, or else." Thomas growled.
"Now you have vampires to help you, that's pathetic!" Brett laughed. "I won't end his life unless the witch comes with me."
"No, Diane. Stay here, don't worry about me."
"The vampire is protecting her." he mocked.
"Thomas," Diane whispered. "I can't stand to see you hurt. Unless you have a plan, we better do something fast."
"I do have something." Thomas declared.
"Then what..." and Thomas pounced onto the creature in front of him.
He bit one of the shadow creatures and it evaporated away, another he stabbed in the chest with a knife which came from his back pocket.
"I need to help Thomas." she quickly said and her eyes changed to yellow. "Stormy morning, stormy night, bring lightning to aid me and Thomas to this fight!"
The sky darkened and flickers of light flashed in the clouds. The lightning started to come down and hit objects.
Diane let the energy flow everywhere. Then she felt something different, strange energy.
"Now you know about my energy." Brett strongly said.
"You are a witch?" Diane said shockingly.
"So what. I trained, I worked, then the witches told me that I'm no good. 'I'm pure evil.' they told me. They was going to kill me, but I ran away. Two years later, I get dreams of you, they kept switching back and forth of either you killing me or protecting me." he said.
Diane took a step back, "why would I protect you? You want to end the world."
Brett took a step forward and smiled, "the only reason I want to end the world is them."
A stray lightning bolt came down towards Diane and Brett, and Brett put up a force field up and blocked the bolt.
"I'm not the bad guy here. I'll prove it to you," and he disappeared.
Diane stopped the lightning bolts and turned around to see Thomas.
"Are you alright?" Diane asked.
"Yeah, better get going before he gets back."
Thomas and Diane headed out the park with two different thoughts of Brett.
"If you were that close, why didn't you kill him!" Logan growled. "You may not see him again!"
