A Vegetarian Or An Omnivorous?

From the nourishing point of view people are divided into two major categories: vegetarians and omnivorous. The first category includes those people who have a special diet having as main characteristic the lack of meat. The second category consists of people who have a diverse diet, combining meat and vegetables.
These two are the major categories, but there are also different types of vegans. Some are vegetarians in the very meaning of the word, eating only vegetables, some vegans eat eggs and dairy products, some eat fish, and some are partial vegetarians because they eat meat from time to time.
There are several reasons for one to change his diet from an omnivorous one to a vegetarian one. The most common reason is synonymous to the word need. Some people have certain diseases or stomach disorders and they are obliged by their health to give up on meat and eat mainly vegetables. Another reason emerges from the saying the meat contains a lot of toxins which are unhealthy. Others became vegetarians because it is a fashion among Hollywood stars and a larger number became vegans because they despise the idea that animals are slaughtered for the purpose of becoming someone's meal.
Studies carried over the years show that people who have a vegetarian diet are healthier than those who combine meat, vegetables and dairy products. Apparently, this may lead to the following conclusion: it is better to give up on consuming meat. But most of the experts concerning diets and alimentary health do not agree to this statement. They say the proteins contained by meat, especially by fish and chicken, are very hard to be replaced by those in the vegetables.
In addition, fat is also needed, it's true, in a small quantity because it gives energy for the brain and it is important for the fat layer beneath the skin, which contributes to the adjustment of the body temperature. If this is the truth, then why did the results of the study show that vegans are healthier? The answer lies in the key-word: attention.
This means that those who have chosen to have a vegetarian diet are more careful about what they eat and they are, in a way, protected from damages caused by eating meat and fats exaggeratedly. Eating too much vegetables can not harm anyone, but eating too much meat can lead to serious problems.
This might be the issue: omnivorous don't care too much about their diet, they simply eat what they like and in the quantity they choose. The lack of balance may lead to serious health problems. So, from a medical point of view, if a person can stay balanced and eat the proper quantities, being omnivorous is synonymous to being healthy. Otherwise, is more recommended to become a vegan.
Another perspective towards this issue brings in the light the war that started between some belonging to these two categories. On one side are those who cannot stand the fact that animals die in order to satisfy a stomach which could also function without meat and on the other side are those who believe this idea makes no sense. This last group believes that because animals have no soul, it is not a cruelty to slaughter them. This statement made the animal lovers to gather in associations which have their own rules, TV shows and all kinds of propaganda in order to obtain more and more animal rights and stop in this way the unstoppable.
Especially in the Western World, such organizations take large companies in the meat industry to trials because of the non-orthodox means of killing the animals. Nowadays people get serious fines if they are caught mistreating their own animals and companies must invest more money in making the death of the animals easier.
In conclusion, diversity is always going to exist among individuals. What is important is to know how and why we decide to join one side and then we must learn to respect and tolerate the other one. This also applies for these two groups: vegans and omnivorous. And in both cases is always important to be balanced. After all you can be healthy both ways.
