A Tribute to a Legend: Sachin

As the day comes to an end...
He was ten years old when he first held a bat in his hand,
It was not just a piece of wood but a magic wand.

Since then it has been raining sixes and fours,
Anywhere he walks out to bat, the crowd roars.

Hours of practice and years of toil,
Sachin is truly the son of the soil.

For years he nurtured a billion hopes,
He brought a smile on everyone’s face by sending the ball sailing across the ropes.

He moved ahead like a truck speeding on a highway,
Smashing bowlers and breaking records all along the way.

The tsunami of change swept many away,
He stood like a rock and kept the winds at bay.

People around him crumbled in adversity,
He just carried on for eternity.

For twenty years he has entertained the nation,
Kudos to his undying passion.

He has achieved all what man could possibly achieve,
He has received all what man could possible receive.

As time draws to a close,
Life is taking away from him the only thing he knows.

All he has done in his life is play cricket,
He has never seen life beyond it.

We worshipped the God for years,
But even God is not immortal are our fears.

God, give him back the only thing he knows,
We want to see him smash sixes and fours.

Sachin would no more be at the crease,
God, can we not have him for ten more years please?
