A Thought of My Life
A response to Ashlie Norup's poem, "A Thought That is My Life". Hopeful.

Wanting to drop,
To storybook's lore,
For my life to stop.
I've seen a world of drugs,
Of alcohol and pain.
Another of hugs,
And singing in the rain.
But here I am now.
Reading cover to cover.
I've felt the wow,
Of the love of another.
I've been dealt bad hands,
Throughout all of my days.
But still here I stand,
Laughing all the way.
I know how it feels,
To never belong.
I know how to steel,
Myself and live on.
To die at a young age,
Without learning to cope,
You won't see the final page,
And its message of hope.
