A Tale of Orion

Orion was raised in a small farm. His mother died of an epidemic. His father is a farmer and a hunter. With every rare catch of his father, he keeps a souvenir, for example a pair of ears of hoofs. Everyday Orion helps maintaining the farm. He tends the crops, rationing the feeds, he supervises the cows and goats and pigs. He collects eggs and cleans their cages thrice every two weeks. He is also in charge of the household chores. His father also teaches him to hunt and tend some crops. Boy, he is a great multitasking.

His father also tells stories and myths and the sort to him. Of how he defeated a snow monster, a desert beast, and a sea creature. Also the days when his mother was alive and well. Orion is strange said by other children in the province, he is too shy and so unapproachable. Though Orion is good-looking, the girls and ladies adore him.

When he was seventeen years old, he constructed his own crossbow and made his own leather clothes. He has sharp accuracy and a fast runner. Everything his father thought him has been passed on. He can battle with a sword and defend himself with a dagger. He already caught several boars.

Orion was twenty-five years old when his father married the second time. He has a fifteen year old stepsister and a thirty year old stepmother. Two years later, the farm was expanded and converted into an inn. All the farm animals were sold. The following year was a successful because the inn has gained half a million gold. The next two years it became a neutral situation. And a year has passed, Orion’s father died.

Orion’s ‘sister moved to a country with his husband. And the inn was slowly dying because less and less customers that goes in. Orion has been abandoned by his ‘mother. Orion went to the forest not far rom their village. He decided to live on the nearby hill.

Orion was always ready for an adventure. He chopped a tree and carved, sawed, chiseled it to make a river boat. He built his own lodge with the use of chopped logs. He ate fish all week during building his home. He finished it after three months. He tried to farm around his house; he became successful of planting crops and vegetables. After nine months of hard diet, he went deeper in the forest for some boars.

Orion hiked the nearby hill several times already. It was just like his own back-hill(backyard). He set foot on the nearest mountain and climbed for the winter.

As Orion saddled up for his trip, his sister died because of a pandemic. His exact words were;

"Ahh, who cares? I’ve got a hike to do!"

His climb for (Insert Mountain here) was rough. First of all, he wore sandals, the fur from wolves and bears were so thin. So he was freezing cold by then. He made the ascension in three days and camped at the peak.

His death was caused by a Yeti, he was asleep by then. He woke up when he was at the Yeti’s grasp. He broke free after kicking it’s chest and grabbed the crossbow. He fired at the eye, (which was mistaken for the nose). But no mere arrows can penetrate it’s fur. Orion took a blow from the Yeti. His right arm was cut through and his right leg was paralyzed. The Yeti charged at him, it was his end.

His soul was reincarnated as a constellation above the (insert mountain here).From there on, it was rumored to be a hunter’s sign of bravery and courage. The constellation was Orion holding his bow that is pointed at Polaris. The End.

-A rumor spread that he dead, a child saw him waving at the night sky.
-And, he always waves "Hi" to everyone he sees.
