A Sweet Poison - Chapter - 4 - Sarah's Intro
Sarah's intro and the story of the cute guy and the wicked girl is finally combined here in the 4th chapter....
I was suddenly conscious that the entire class was staring at me exactly what I hated.
Clearing my throat and trying to suppress my nervousness,I said," Umm - Hi everyone here. My-umm name is Sarah and I - ummm I just came to this new station due to my parents posting. I - umm- am 16 yrs old and- umm I loveee music and reading books. Ummm - sports are also attractive to me... I am a bit shy and introvert by nature - ummm and I sincerely hope that you all will be my friends and treat me.. umm-kindly- ummm....Thank you", not knowing what to say more, I concluded and after getting a nod from the class teacher, went back to my seat with Sonali.
The rest of the periods till lunch break were, more or less, the same.
All the teachers inquired about me-howcome I came here in this station, from where, about my family, new home, how did I find this school, my grades in previous school; etc....
After finishing my food in the lunch break, Sonali started showing me around the school. Meanwhile I used this privacy time in telling her about my early morning incident and asking her to elaborate it.
She said, "That guy was Dharanjay, better known around here as DJ.And that girl you're talking about was Diya. They both are the most popular buddies in school since 8th class due to their intelligence and over-all achievements. In their 10th class, they got into dating after returning together from an all-India quiz show program. But nowadays.....", half finished Sonali hesitantly.
"Nowadays WHAT?" I asked, curiously....
"Well nowadays Diya is getting more and more possessive about DJ. Whenever he tries to talk to any other girl, she gets into a fight with him. We all girls in class keep a distance from Diya- she's too short tempered. Poor DJ, Diya is always suspicious about him and she's not even ready to break-up with him officially, even though I'm sure that DJ has no feelings for her now. So, he has to endure her tantrums. I'm damn sure that he wants to break up with her. But she's not letting him do it. If DJ even tries, then she'll accuse him of cheating...Moreover, her mother is the principal of this school. So, he'll get into a tight spot if he infuriates her....", finished Sonali.
Hmmmm, so that was why he suddenly shouted at me when Diya came around. He didn't want to have another row with her about me.
Poor DJ, he must be going through a lot. But teenage is all about this-new relationships (sometimes good, sometimes troubled); fussy elders, need of more freedom......
The rest of my day at school went fine. I also noticed how much Diya spied on DJ and on all the girls to make sure that neither he looked at any girl nor any of them looked at him.
