A Slayer Like Me Wears Designer Clothing (2)

FROM THE AUTHOR OF A DARK PURSUIT. After 4 years, they now come face to face, but...let's just say this isn't exactly a 'happy' reunion, they're having what we humans like to call nowadays... a slight (emphasis on the slight) disagreement...(more like feud. Enjoy! :) :) :)
Here you go guys! I'm trying to write constantly so that you don't have to wait for so long. What did you think of the first chapter? As for A Dark Obsession, I'm kinda having a writers block for the second chapter, so I just thought I'd do this series in the meantime while I'm coming up with some ideas just to give you more to read. :P

Hope you don't mind, happy reading!

I got out of the car and slammed the door shut. What was he doing here? Now, of all times. It had been so long…Anger and longing both weld up in my chest. But I reminded myself that I had to stay detached from him. I wouldn’t let him get to me, not like the last time.

"Susannah," he nodded in acknowledgment as a way of greeting me. Not ‘Hey Susannah, how are you doing?" or "Hi Suze, I’m sorry for being such a jerk I should’ve-‘

"Susannah?" his sweet seductive voice pulled me out from my silent rampage.

"Damian," I said just as stiffly, "To what or whom do I owe the pleasure of meeting you?"

His eyes narrowed and spat silver at me, "I am here to make sure you got the message about the Council meeting."

"Oh, I got the message alright, though I am surprised though that the High Prince of the Vampires came to tell me this in person, after all, I thought that I was just a mere child not worth anybody’s trouble." I stared in his eyes to punctuate my last sentence, "Especially yours."

"You know it’s not like that Susannah I-"

I cut him off "Of course, of course, yes, yes, yes, blah, blah, blah, I don’t care. Why are you here Prince? I’ve got better things to do."

"Really?" he shot back, "as far as I know, you’ve locked yourself in your own apartment just because some pathetic human broke up with you!"

I stiffened, "So you’ve been spying on me, not that I’m surprised, I should have seen it coming I guess. Just so you know, that pathetic human has a name and it’s Rick! Although he broke up with me, at least he paid more attention to me than you ever did!! Now tell my why you’re here!"

Damian was mad. It was an understatement really; anyone with eyes could see that he was mad. His eyes darkened and he folded his arms across his chest, so as to not smash anything I was once told.

Keeping a detached tone he said, "I heard you scream and I merely came to help you."

"How chivalrous of you," I laughed, "Damian Black, The High Prince of Vampires and a once paid assassin and mercenary is coming to help a maiden in distress. How bloody nice of you!" I said in an exaggerated tone.

"Well I wouldn’t have to come to your distress if you weren’t such a peahen!" he snapped back.

I curled my fists, badly wanting to punch something, "I absolutely refuse to be a peahen! I have looked after myself all these years without your help! I know how to fight and protect myself!"

"But who was the one that taught you in the first place?"

"Fine then Damian, I owe you thanks, thanks for teaching me how to kill and in return, I shall give you some advice. You need a vacation! Go to Hawaii or something, I don’t know, live a little."

With that, I strode back to my car. Suddenly, a hand lashed out and Damian slammed me against the door. Not hard, but with just enough force so that I’d know who was in control. Before I could even comprehend what was happening, his lips were on mine as he gave me a punishing kiss. This one wasn’t for memories, it wasn’t for the old times, this kiss wasn’t meant to woo, it was made to seduce. It was bruising and scorching. Brief flash backs came to me, of that night, the way he used to smile at me… and all too soon, he stopped and pulled back.

My body felt cold and I raised a hand to my bruised lips, my mind in a daze.
I looked at him.

"Now that, Susannah, is called living. I shall see you at the meeting in a few days. There will be a ball held for the new moon, wear something fancy and," he started to walk off, "try not to peck your way into any trouble, alright my little peahen?"

I curled my fists and called him an unflattering word under my breath, being the vampire he is, he heard it of course and chuckled. ‘my little peahen’ he’d said, ‘my’, his. I wasn’t his.

"Till we meet again," he called over his shoulder.

Yes, until we meet again. I wasn’t the little girl he thought I was anymore. No matter what happened in the past, he didn’t own me and soon, I’d show him just how much the little girl he used to know had grown up...
