A Simple Introduction To Quilting

Quilting is an art that has existed in most of our cultures for many generations. And so, here is a simple introduction to quilting and let us go back and learn once more what quilting is all about.
Quilting had been around the world for many years now. You may see these products around your house though you may not really realized that they are indeed quilted products. Although to some homes, quilting has already been a part of their lives, and even some have already created a heirloom, making quilting as part of every generation in the family.

Quilting, as many of us knows, can be considered as an art, while the artist, most commonly known as the quilter, holds 3 layers of quilts together, and from that aims to come up with decorative designs and styles. A quilter’s product may range in sizes, styles, and simplicity or complexity, for that matter. Simple quilts may vary from pillow cases, rugs, wall decors, and table runners. While the more complicated ones are the bed covers, blankets, and baby’s bedding.

Quilts can be done in two ways. You can either use a machine- a quilting or a regular sewing machine. While for simpler projects, hand quilting is the best option.

For hand quilting, all you need to have are your needle and threads, your fabrics, and a thimble to protect your fingers. You may also feel the need for a quilting hoop or frame to aid you in quilting so that you won’t need to worry that the layers will shift positions, thus you’ll be more concentrated on your stitches and design.

Machine quilting, however, is a lot easier and hundreds of times faster than hand quilting. The only downside of it is that, first, you should have a machine to do your quilting, you either barrow or purchase one; and it is obviously not handy, unlike in hand quilting where you can do your quilting anytime, anywhere, without any hassles.

But nevertheless, whatever option you may choose, and in whatever level of quilting expertise you are, or whether you are a quilter in nature or just someone who appreciate quilted products, what’s most important is you love your craft, or at least respects and gives high credit to quilts, since these items are all done with patience and love in order to come up with those good-looking, intricately finished quilts.
