Tashayia B - I'm very glad you like it. Yes, she is kind of mix of goth/emo... and you guessed it. Jade is definitely in love with her, but of course as stories like this go, she just doesn't realize it yet.

Thanks to Tashayia B. and Sarina18 for the title suggestions. Sorry I didn't use them, my sister Kat thought that A shining stone would be a good name because Jade is a stone name and he's kinda like a shining stone in her life... get it? I hope so because I can't really explain it, and since we just had a fight, using her title seemed the best way to keep her from being mad at me. So thanks a lot, I really, really did like those titles though and they gave me some good ideas for stuff later on.

Chapter Two
Amy's point of view
"You okay?" I asked. He was staring intently at something behind me. I didn't want to look. Most likely new boy was still sitting there... obviously Jade didn't like him. One more reason for me to not like him. "Yeah, I'm fine. How's your book report going?" I have a book report do on Macbeth for English.

"Okay. Boring." I hate reading books like that. I guess I'm not much of a reader... "How's Aunt Jen and Uncle Tom?" His aunt and uncle were in town.
"Oh they're great. Katie's pregnant she's due any time now. If it's a girl they're gonna name it Anabelle and if it's a boy Troy. She doesn't know what it is yet, she wants it to be a surprise."

After a little more talking, the bell rang. I got up, hugged Jade goodbye and walked away, dumping my tray on the way out. After lunch I had two more classes before the end of school and the boring drive home. Jade usually rides with me but his aunt and uncle are in town, so they dropped him off this morning and they're picking him up this afternoon.

Unfortunately, new boy was in both of my next classes. He sat beside me in each one. It bugged me that he actually wanted to be my friend. The classes dragged by and when the last bell finally rang, I pretty much ran to my truck. For some stupid reason, new boy was leaning against it! Ugh, I slowed from my speed walk to barely moving. I finally told myself it'd be better to get it over with, and walked at a more normal pace to my truck. He was leaning against the driver's side door.

"Could you move. You're kinda blocking my way." "Oh, I hadn't noticed." His tone of voice bugged me. He was being a jerk. "Well I didn't expect you to have noticed. Being so dumb and all."

"Your name's Amy?" He must have heard Jade say it at lunch.
"No. It's Jessie. And could you move?" I could. Why did that guy at lunch call you Amy if your name is Jessie." "That's none of your business. Are you going to move?" "No I don't think so. Amy."

"Ugh." I looked away angrily. "Don't call me Amy. And why won't you get out of my way?" "Because you didn't ask please. And I'll call you Amy if I want to."
"Okay would you please get out of my way and would you please stop calling me Amy. My name is Jessie." He still didn't move, instead smiled at me. I pushed him out of my way, opened the door, got in, slammed the door and drove away, leaving him there, staring after me. I got home, hoping Daren wasn't home. He was. I cringed as I climbed out of the truck. Loud music was booming out of the house. I walked to the back door, trying to avoid him. I got halfway to my room, before he came out of the living room, drunk. He tumbled into me. We crashed onto the floor, him on top of me. I quickly scrambled out from under him. He clumsily got up.

"Girl, what are you doing. Shouldn't you be in school." His voice was so slurred I could barely understand what he was saying. He swung out at me and I ducked. As soon as I ducked his foot shot out and caught me in the stomach. I fell to the ground, groaning in pain. After a few more kicks and punches, I blacked out. The last thing I remember was his foot connecting to my face.

I woke up disoriented, my head throbbing and the room spinning. I tried to move my arms or legs but they wouldn't work. "Amy! Amy you're awake!" Someone's voice cut through the silence. I started to lift my head, but pain consumed me and I blacked out again.

The next time I woke up, there was less pain and everything was clearer. Jade was sitting in a chair next to my bed. The bright white of my walls... wait my walls are blue. I looked down and realized I was in a hospital bed. "Jade." My voice was hoarse and tired sounding. Jade jumped and looked over at me. His worried face broke into a smile. "Amy!" He stood up and rushed over to me. "How do you feel?"

"Okay I guess. What happened?" "You don't remember?" His smiled faded and his eyebrows narrowed. "I remember a little. When did you find me." "Three days ago. I came over to tell you my cousin Katie had her baby when we were at school. Aunt Jen told me when they picked me up, so they dropped me off at your house and you were on the floor. There was blood all over the floor. He broke your arm, sprained your ankle, you have bruises and cuts all over you, and your face... your face is really bruised. It's purple and blue and green right now." "Great." I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I was starting to feel dizzy. "You also broke 3 ribs, he stabbed you in the arm, and your side, luckily not badly, and a bone in your ear is broken. You have a minor concussion too."

"Wow that's a lot. So what happened to Daren?" I whispered it, my head throbbed with each word I said. "Well, the police caught him. He's in jail right now for attempted murder. When we found you, he had the knife and he turned on my aunt. She's fine though."

"I'm so glad you came." My voice was even softer. I closed my eyes. "Go to sleep Amethyst. I'll be here when you wake up." Jade's hand brushed my hair off my cheek softly. I opened my eyes a little to see him smiling and then I fell asleep.
