chapter 23
The year passed quickly, with me and Jade together through it all. Graduation came and went and it was summer again. The first summer of the rest of our lives. Jade took me to the beach, now having his own license and car, of which he was very proud. He covered my eyes with his hands, leading me down the beach. After a couple of minutes of walking, he uncovered my eyes.
Down, near the water was a picnic blanket and a picnic. "Aww Jade!" I hugged him and kissed his cheek. He smiled and led me to it. After a few minutes of silent eating and gazing out at the water, he cleared his throat. I looked at him, smiling. He looked nervous. "What's wrong?" I asked. He stood up, and walked over towards me. He knelt down, on one knee and put his hand into his pocket. He pulled out a small black, velvet box. I gasped.
He opened it slightly, holding it out. "Amethyst Jessica York, I've loved you ever since I can remember, and I always will. Will you marry me?"
I nodded wordlessly for a minute, then, finally finding my voice, choked out, "Yes. Yes, yes!" I threw myself at him and we kissed. "I love you." I muttered, my hands in his hair.
"I love you." He replied, pressing his lips back on mine. "I love you."
