Chapter 22
I put away all the groceries and started cleaning. I started upstairs and worked my way to the living room. I dusted, swept, vacuumed and washed everything. I finally finished cleaning and decorating the house and sat on the couch to relax for a little. My mind wandered back to seeing Jade and Makayla kissing.
Without any way to keep my mind off it, I laid down on the couch crying. I must have been crying, nonstop, for an hour when someone knocked at the door. "Go away!" I mumbled through my tears, sobbing uncontrollably. I heard the door open and looked up, through my blurry, watery eyes to see Jade standing over me, hurt in his eyes.
"Jade, g-go away..." I murmured, the crying making my voice not as firm as I had wanted it to be.
"Amy, no, please don't hate me anymore. I can't stand it! I swear I didn't kiss her! She kissed me."
"And Jeremy kissed me, but like you'd know, you were too busy with her!" I shouted, sitting up and wiping at tears, which were just replaced with more.
"What?" His voice was suddenly rough and angry. I pulled my legs up and hugged them against my chest.
"Jeremy..." I bit my bottom lip nervously, "kissed me." I said, timidly.
"I'm gonna kill him!" He started towards the door. I jumped off the couch, running to catch up.
"Wait Jade don't! Don't get in trouble over this! I took care of it. I punched him... and bruised my hand. Then kicked him." I tripped over my foot or something and fell to the ground. I landed on my hand and it twisted. "Aaaahhh!" I screamed. Jade turned around immediately and was at my side, helping me up and back to the couch.
He took my hand and after gently tracing his fingers around my wrist, and pressing at different places and looking at my reactions he smiled. "I don't think it's a bad sprain... maybe not even a sprain at all." I breathed in and sighed, a shuddering breath. He frowned, looking sad again. "Amethyst, I'm so sorry. I should never have let her get that close to me. I just wasn't think she would try anything like that. We know I'm not the type of guy she usually goes after. Can you please forgive me? I love you Amethyst. You should know that. I don't want anyone but you."
I nodded, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "You're telling the truth?" I asked, wanting to believe him. He nodded. "Promise?" When he nodded again, I sighed. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you before. I know you wouldn't lie to me. It's just... since Jeremy... I...." He was staring at me and I felt self-conscious. "I must look awful. My eyes are probably all red."
"You look beautiful Amy." He said.
"No I don't. I'm all covered in dust and dirt from cleaning..." I replied, shaking my head, then continued. "I guess I was still just shocked from Jeremy kissing me. I love you too Jade." As soon as I said that, I felt a warmth rush through me and I smiled.
"Thank you. For forgiving me." Jade murmured, leaning towards me. His lips brushed mine and I kissed him back, almost attacking him. "I missed you..." I whispered, pressing my lips against his.
"I missed you too babe." He whispered back, a grin on his face. "I really, really missed you." His lips were back on mine, warm and familiar. He carefully turned and lifted me onto his lap, so I was straddling him, as we continued kissing passionately. I sighed, sinking against him. His warm hands were tracing patterns on my back. My cell phone rang, vibrating in my hip pocket. I felt his hands reach and pull it out of my pocket and he looked at who was calling. Sighing, he handed me the phone. "It's Evan."
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Hey. How's the school year going?" He asked.
"Umm... pretty good." I replied, a little breathless.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah..." Jade was kissing my neck, making it hard to concentrate on the phone conversation. "I'm fine. How have you been?"
"Pretty good. Anytime we can come down and visit you?"
"Uhmm..." Jade's teeth grazed my ear. "Uh..." I struggled to remember what he had asked. "Oh um... Saturday?"
"That'd be great. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Mhmm... I'm fine." Jade's lips were brushing along my jaw line. His breath hot against my skin.
"Okay..." Evan sounded skeptical and I pushed Jade away, holding up one finger as he started to protest. With Jade not kissing me, I could concentrate better.
"Really Evan, I'm fine." I said, almost laughing at the way Jade was pouting. "Just a little sidetracked.
"Okay. I just wanted to see if we could come down."
"Mmmkay." I replied. "See you Saturday?"
"Yep."
"Kay, bye." I hung up, tossing my phone onto the couch and turning my face back to Jade. He grinned and leaned forward.
"I love you Amethyst." He said before his lips crushed onto mine. This kiss sent sparks down my spine. I shivered and pressed myself closer to Jade. The kiss was deep and intense. I parted my lips against the pressure of his tongue, fire seeming to explode from our passion. His hands were warm against my skin.
