A September Morn - In Remembrance of 9/11

How many of us are still haunted by what happened on 9/11/2001.
How these streets have haunted me
My footstep resounding on the stones
The echo of yours following from behind
Until I stand before the place
The place that took you away.

I hear the whispers and laughter of days gone by
Until the September morn
When a foreigners revenge so cruel
Took you from me
Our life together never again to be.

My heart often cried out why
But common sense then prevailed
Nothing would ever be the same again
You weren’t coming back
And we couldn’t begin once more.

We are all players
Playing out the scenes of a life
Though yours so tragic
Will always bring me back to a September morn
A final look, a smile, a touch
At least I have so much.

As life goes on
And the years go by
My thoughts to you still fly
And so I say my good-byes
Someday to meet on heaven’s stage
To once again be
Just you and me.
