A Quiet Acknowledgment of Love

Loud, look-at-me-I-am-in-love acknowledgments of love are so repulsive. Love doesn't require an announcement. It just arrives and settles in its place, peacefully...

When you wish to do something "special" for the one guy that makes your heart flutter, there's nothing that can stop you. A similar situation headed my way for Valentine's day. Of course, the day has passed by but the remnants of the beautiful evening still linger. I, like many people who value and appreciate the strong bond between a husband and wife, am helplessly romantic and wish to express myself in unique ways.

Each year begins with the impending birthdays and anniversaries, and whatnots. And all you're left with are days awaiting to reach those celebratory days. There are times when I really cannot get the energy to even think about what I wish to do on those days. However, when opportunity knocks, I for one do not shut my doors and windows on them. I believe that every human being is entitled to their opinions and beliefs about love, and how they wish to lead their lives for the same should be acceptable. Now of course, after rambling about my acceptance on the feelings of love, you have guessed it correctly - I did make it a point to enjoy and celebrate this night in style.

When a relationship is taking its baby steps, everything seems beautiful, romantic, and worth exploring. And as these steps become more and more confident, the need to hang on to something or someone vanishes. You begin to trust yourself and the person you are with. Life becomes a routine that doesn't necessarily bring unexpected events your way. After a while, you know that the same birthdays, anniversaries, and whatnots will be celebrated, one way or another. And to find a creative or unpredicted route to celebrate a day or night becomes challenging. To be honest, I was pretty bummed out with the fact that I will never get those butterfly feelings in my stomach or have a really romantic night with him again. Everything which can be tried, has already happened. And let's just forget about testing something new. Who has the time? It's a good day if you can reach home on time, have dinner in peace, read a few pages of the current book, and get enough sleep so that the next day goes smoothly.

But no... it's high time one of us did something to break this mundane routine. And so, opportunity finally knocked some sense into us and we did get a chance to have a quiet acknowledgment of love. How can I ask for more when I have him next to me, with amazing music transforming the night into something out of a cheesy romantic movie. Cool breeze playing with our hair, reminiscing in the past, waiting for a delightful future, and the beautiful moments that we shared now. Is there anything better than that?
