A Quick Guide Bathroom Vanity Units

A bathroom vanity unit is an essential part of any bathroom.
Bathrooms are typically such a commonly-used place that they require significant storage for most families. A bathroom vanity unit is a place you can store sheets, towels, and other linen items as well as hair gels, deodorants, and other toiletry items. Some families even store items such as medications in the bathroom vanity.

Vanities all come with basic pieces: a mirror, drawers, and cabinets. The size and number of all the pieces varies widely, and you should be able to find a vanity for whatever needs your family has. For families with a large number of people using the bathroom, a double vanity may work well. Two people can get ready at the vanity at a time, cutting in half the amount of time the bathroom is needed each morning. Double vanities usually have two sets of everything, meaning there should be enough storage space for everyone to keep her or his things in the vanity.

The advantage of a bathroom vanity unit is that it allows for excellent organization within the bathroom. For people who want to have an efficient bathroom, a vanity provides a great set-up for that. Other people use vanities for the opposite reason. They're good spots to hide all of your bathroom items if you don't want to keep them organized.

The disadvantage of a bathroom vanity unit is that it tends to take up a lot of space. Because many vanities come with attached mirrors, finding a good spot for them can be difficult in small spaces. They also tend to be pretty trendy, which means you will have trouble changing the bathroom later without purchasing a new vanities unless you look for a simple model.

When choosing a bathroom vanity unit for your bathroom, make sure you know roughly what you will put into each space within the bathroom. If you buy simply based on the design and aesthetics of the unit, rather than the functionality of it, then you may find yourself with a gorgeous unit that doesn't work for your bathroom space. While you are shopping, think about each drawer and cabinet and what could go in it. Though bathroom storage typically changes as the members of the family age, knowing that the storage space will be useful is the best way you can make sure that you are getting a utilitarian unit.

Also make sure the unit will work with the design you already have in your bathroom. If you have a contemporary look, then you need to stick with something similar. Other styles have a bit more versatility, and you may be able to get a basic design and then add some decoration to it to make it work with your bathroom. Sometimes new handles or a nice set of pictures surrounding a vanity can work nicely.

The amount to spend on the bathroom vanity unit will depend on how much you want to spend on storage in general. Some people believe that storage should be a significant cost while others want to spend as little as possible on it. What you spend depends on your family's budget. A vanity unit typically is a big part of the look of the bathroom, so don't skimp on it. Just don't blow more than you have to spend and regret it later.
