A Promised Fairytale

You tell me this is a fairytale
That this can't play out
You can't take the pain everyday
That this love won't last
You won't stay strong

I give you ideas of this fantasy
That make this seem real
I'm not trying to give you false hope
Just merely getting rid of the dream
I just want you to hold me

You protest against the embrace
You push me away
Just because you can't make it okay
You just protect all that's left of your
Broken heart in fear of it being shattered
once again

I'm not here to hurt or break you
I don't just want you to fall
Just merely get you to trust me again
I don't want to bring you down
Not now, not ever
I promise to never crack your mended glass heart
