A Ninja Attack, Penguins, a Couple of Dinosaurs, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie
This is my first story in a while so I hope you like it. It's about a girl and her troubling experience and her best friend. No plans to continue the story at the moment if you would like me to just say so...
I took the note that Kayleen, my best friend, and I were passing back forth. We always did this in first period since we had English with Mr. Morrison the most boring teacher ever. Today we talking about why I had been crying this morning when she picked me up for school. See the thing is I'm crazy: I seen things that aren't this has been happening since I was 5 and the boogeyman chased my out the window of my room. That's how I Kayleen in the emergency room since I'd broken my wrist falling out the window, she'd broken hers after tripping and falling down the stairs. Oh right back to what this morning, when I woke this morning there was a dinosaur sitting on my bed. It then proceeded to chase me around the house around the house until my mom slipped me my medicine. The reason I was crying I'm getting worse, it's only been a week since my last episode and usually I get a month at least. I opened the note:
Your parents going to take you and get your meds changed then?
I grabbed my pencil and quickly scribbled "No, I'm scared" and handed it back to her. She read it and gave me a worried look then reached over and touched my hand. I smiled at her before putting my head down on my desk and looking out the window. This is when my whole world came crashing down around me. Three ropes dropped down from the top of the school. I shot up straight and looked at Kay pointing at the window. Frowning she shook her head, was she serious they were right there in plain sight. Yes, I may know I'm crazy but that doesn't mean I can separate my delusions from reality. I stood up from my desk just as three ninja's came crashing through the window. I bolted from the class room leaving all my stuff behind. I could hear Kay shouting at me as I ran out of the school. I didn't stop I just ran heading off for main street towards the bakery. This by the way is where I always go to during a breakdown that is if I'm not home. They had the best chocolate chip cookie so I'd go to get one, every time.
I got to main street and had to stop to catch my breath. I leaned up against the wall breathing very heavily since I had just run about 5 blocks. Someone came up behind me and started talking to me. I turned around and it was some old lady that I didn't recognize. I'm not completely sure what she was asking me. Since I was too busy watching the dinosaur, I think it was some kind of raptor, that had just came around the corner. I was definitely keep an eye on it. It was maybe half a block away and sniffing the air like it was looking for something. Meanwhile the old lady is going on about god knows what. It slowly turns its head looking straight at me. I took a deep breath and began holding it, hoping it wouldn't notice me. It started running down the sidewalk towards me. I let out and earsplitting scream and took off running with it not far behind.
Kayleen's POV
I was leaving the school after calling Davan's parents to tell them what had happened. My head was spinning. I was worried about Davan I'd never seen her have a breakdown this bad before. I couldn't believe this was happening today when I 'd finally got up the courage to actually ask her. I was really starting to regret wearing this skirt too, since it was full size to small and of course she didn't even notice. So jock, jerk coming out of the bathroom whistled at me and I flicked him off. I finally got out to my car a simple four door sedan. I got in and rested my head on the steering wheel letting out a long sigh. What a crappy day I thought for the hundredth time since she ran out of class screaming about ninjas.
Oh right, I should probably explain I'm gay and yes she knows. She was the first person I told. I felt like I needed to tell her one of my secrets since I knew most of her biggest ones. I remember the day pretty well it was august just a couple weeks before school was to start. We were sitting on the roof outside her window. She had her head my lap when I told she didn't even move. I was surprised by this, honestly I thought she was at least going to sit up. It made me feel good to know that she didn't care. I realized I do the same for her all the time. The searing heat of the leather on the steering wheel brought me back from my memories smiling from ear to ear. I started the car and headed off towards the bakery to get some chocolate chip cookies.
Davan's POV
I didn't realize where I was running to till I burst through the door of my house. I stopped but only long enough to hear the raptor thing run into the door. Then I ran through the house and out the backdoor. I ran and hop the back fence like a pro I didn't even stumble when I landed on the other side. I ran for what seemed like forever. I had lost track of where I was a couple blocks back. I was exhausted, hungry, and just plain old over whelmed. I happened to be standing in an empty alley but judging by the smell it was always empty. Garbage and urine mingled together and if my stomach wasn't empty I'd probably hurl right there. I leaned against a wall, sank to the ground and started to cry. I wish I had a chocolate chip cookie that would cheer me up and I could really use that right now I mean big time. I heard a noise like the rustling of a paper bag and looked up to see a white bag from the bakery. My stomach growled in relief I was really hoping that the bag wasn't empty. I stood up and was about to walk over and grab the bag. When out of thin air a penguin appears grabs the bag and waddles off.
"Those are my cookies you stupid penguins" I shouted at the top of my lungs and gave chase. The stupid penguin was across the road already waddling across the parking lot of a gas station. I ran into the road and narrowly missed getting hit by a car. I ignored the driver of the car as honked the horn and shouted profanity out the window. The penguin was already out of sight by the time I got to the parking lot and started to run a crossed it already out of breath.
"D" Someone shouted from right. I turned to Kay standing by her frantically waving me over to her.
"Hold on I have to catch the penguin that stole my cookies I'll be right back" I shouted back. I could feel people starring at me trying to figure out if I really did just say that.
"It's okay hun I got your cookies over here" She shouted back. A smile spread across my face I should have know this Kay always takes care of me. I excited I ran over to her with as much energy as I could spare. Hoping to get my cookie right away.
"You realize you had me worried sick running off like that" I gave her a sad look, "just give me a hug" she finished. I gave her a hug. I was glad she was here I didn't feel so disoriented anymore. When we broke apart she just looked at me before brushing some hair out of my face. Then she did something I wasn't expecting she leaned over and kissed me. To mine and her surprise I'm sure I kissed her back. When we broke apart she smiled at me and said "I love You." I didn't know what to do and could feel the heat rising into my cheeks as I blushed. I had big dopey grin on my face.
"I'm Sorry" where the next word out of her mouth. I looked up at her and tear rolled down her. I reached up and wiped it off her face. Just as I felt a tiny prick in my other arm. I stood there looking at her as I began to feel tired. She was still crying and I didn't want her to cry so leaned over and wrapped my arms around her and she wrapped me in her arms. I fell asleep in her arms.
