A New Leap of Faith Chpt. 3

Enjoy and comment! Keep reading, much love.
The next few days were a blur. The first day of school came fast. It was a pretty bad day, if you ask me. I wore a red tank top, ripped jeans, and a white comfy sweater. I don't remember much of it, because I was too busy counting the minutes until I got to go home.

Gym class turned out to be my favorite of them all. Why? Because I had met two girls in that class, Dora and Ammy. Figures that they didn't know anyone either. We had been together often. We ate lunch outside. There was a huge hill right outside the boundaries of the school. It took us five minutes to walk there, and we enjoyed the peace. It turns out both of them were into the same kind of music, Slipknot especially, and we had tons of common interests. I decided that it wouldn't be too bad to have a couple friends, especially since the workload was way less than I would have expected it to be.

Today is an extremely gloomy day. It's already the 4th of October, time flies by. The sky was gray and the clouds were pitch black. Rain was pouring.

"Mom, can I stay home today?"
I knew my geography teacher was off because he had removed his appendix.
"What for?..."
"It's a bad day, and none of the teachers will be there"
"Jona, your pushing it"
I give up.

The house even looked dark. All the dogs were in a huddle and my mom was drinking her morning decaf double double Tim Hortons coffee under a blanket. And there I was with an umbrella ready to walk the 10 min walk. Hallie and I walked together every morning and I was beginning to get sick of her but it would be rude to ditch her.

"Bye mom.."
"Have a great day hun, I gave you $10 for lunch today, and don't forget Hallie!"
I grabbed a Kellogs chewy bar, gatorade, and I was out.

I rang Hallies doorbell.
"Hey Jona, Hallie isn't feeling well today, she won't be joining you."
"Oh...alright."
"It's pretty rainy, would you like a lift?"
"No thank you Mrs.C, I'll be fine."
Yeah right.

There were puddles every step in front of me and if I tried to avoided them, a car would pass by and spray me. By the time I got to the brick building that I dreaded the most, the rain had seeped through my converse and entirely devoured my socks. My jeans were heavy and sticky and you could see my bra through my shirt, nice.

"Hey, you look like you could use a shirt haha, I have an extra sweater in my locker...would you like to borrow it"
"Umm"
"Oh don't look so lost. I'm Tamara, nice to meet you!"
"Hey, I'm Jona"
"Yeah, you're in my geography class, right? Man that stupid supply is getting so annoying!"
"Haha I know! Thank you for the offer on the sweater but I think I'll pass"
"Alright, I'll see you in geo. You should sit next to me!"
"Cya!"
I had a feeling Tamara and I would be good friends. Anyone who could make me laugh within 5 minutes was worth my time.

The day was passing sluggishly slow. By the time lunch rolled around, I was ready to pass out from boredom. I had sat beside Tamara in geo and we had a bomb time laughing and doing anything BUT the work. She's a nice girl.

"Jona, doesn't look like we'll be on the hill today haha. Dora and I are gonna go sit with the rocker guys on the stairs. I'm totally crushing Rick! Gonna join?"
"Haha, sounds good Ammy but, I've ...I'm gonna catch up on my geo. Goodluck with Rick"

I found Tamara in the caff. She was sitting with three other girls. Ugh, I don't know why I have to be so shy. I turned to walk to my locker when I heard Tamara calling my name. I spent lunch with the three girls and soon discovered that we hit it off pretty great. Melanie was one of the other girls. She was shy like me and loved her camera. Alina was another, she was quite but laughed at everything. And the last one was Sam, she was the outspoken one. I was surprised that they had accepted me.
"Jona, I know I've only known you for a day haha, but my birthday is tomorrow , would you like to come?!"
"OF COURSE"
I wouldn't miss it for the world. I was starting to like these social opportunities, I never thought I would.

The rest of the day was a blur and by the time I got home, I was so stoked for Tamaras birthday that I had completely forgotten that I was supposed to go to the mall with Ammy and Dora. Oh well, they won't mind. I didn't need them anyway, now that I had my new girlfriends.

Tamaras birthday was at Kelseys and it was a blast. Soon enough, I had forgotten about my mom and everything I loved about home.
