A New Beginning - Chapter 9

Hello. One more chapter and do remember to comment.
Sourav was shocked he was not sure what he had expected but it had not been this. When he heard Shweta clear her throat he realized that Shweta was looking at him and he was still clutching his phone. He straightened and went in his cabin and sat on the chair. What had happened to his Palak? What was wrong with her?

Hoe could she say that their marriage had been about HIM, of course he card about her too. Yeah lately he had been busy but then it didn't mean that it was all about him. He had told her at their wedding night what plans he had and that stopped him. He had told her on their WEDDING night, and it struck him that he had not given any choice to her. He had simply told her what his plans were and he had never asked her what she had wanted. At that time he had been quite young and hadn't thought much. But now it was coming back to him, was she right?

Damn!!!! he was confused. He was not sure what was right and wrong, he had to meet her. He checked his cell and found that she had called from a land line. Sourav called the number and one male voice answered it. Not knowing what to say, he asked, "Can I talk to Palak?"

Sure came the reply and then there was silence, moments ticked by and Sourav heard some faint noise and then Palak's voice came through.

"Hello"

"Palak I want to meet you" Sourav said and heard her sigh on the phone.

"Why?" was the answer from Palak.

What was wrong with Palak, "What do you mean why Palak? I am your husband whatever difference we have, don't you think we need to sit and solve"

Palak knew that he was right and she had to meet him but somehow she wanted to avoid that part. She was not sure what was she planning to avoid by not meeting him.

"Palak, please this is no way to sort out anything" Sourav tried on more time he desperately wanted to see her.

This was his Sourav that's what Palak thought. He was like this at the start of their marriage but then he had been changed. But now when he said in that same tone, Palak knew that old Sourav was still inside him.

"Sourav, it's too late now. " that words did something to Sourav but he was not sure what it did.

"Palak it's never too late" Sourav tried to reason with her and when he heard her sigh one more time he knew that he had won.

"Okay, let's meet tonight at the Blossom Garden" Sourav was not favorable for meeting her in the garden. But he could take her somewhere else later so he agreed with her. They set a time and smiling Sourav went to work.
**********************************************************************************
Palak had not been sure if she had done a right thing or not but she knew that she had to meet him once at least. She left the library at her time and went to the park. It was situated somewhere in between where she and Sourav stayed. She went and sat on one of the benches, she had told him that she would be sitting at one of the benches.

She had brought a book with her to pass the time, but before opening the book she looked around and started observing the people in the park.

There were children running, couples sitting in shades, older couple walking slowly. She looked at children longingly, she wanted children badly but Sourav had always wanted to be successful first. Later she had stopped asking him, but she thought now how her situation would be if she had a child. She wouldn't have left the house with the child when she had nowhere to go. She was not sure if it was a good thing or not. As she didn't want to ponder more on that she started reading her book.

After a few minutes she was hit on the knee by a small child. Soon she heard a man's voice, "Aayush don't" Now the child and the man were standing in front of her. She didn't look up to see the man but was looking at the child. He looked somewhere around four years old, fair with a round face and black hair he looked adorable. Naughtiness was written on his face, and Palak simply loved it.

"I am sorry he hit you. He wanted throw at me but I moved so" Palak hers the voice and looked up to see the man. He was six feet tall so Palak had to crane her neck a bit and he was handsome was Palak's first thought. She instantly felt heat in her cheeks, in such a long time she had never thought about a man and that too thinking him as handsome but he was. He was fair, dark hair and there was also that naughtiness which she had seen on the child's face. They must be father and son but there was also some gentleness on his face.

"That's okay, "Saying that Palak got up as her neck was starting to hurt by looking that up and she ruffled the boy's hair who was glaring at her.

"Aayush, apologize to aunty" the man said to the child and the child started glaring angrily at her.

"No need Aayush, actually your father needs to apologize." Palak said and had the pleasure to see the child's face lit up and that handsome face shocked.

She crouched to Aayush's level and looked at him, "Were you planning to hit me?" Aayush shook his head.

"So if your father hadn't moved it wouldn't have hit me right?" Aayush happy so far nodded , "So "Palak straightened and looked at the handsome face. "You have to apologize"

"Yee" Shouting Aayush went running and Palak and the handsome guy started laughing together.

"Hi, I am Vijay"

"I am Palak" They introduced each other and shook hands.

"I am sorry that he" He tried but Palak shook her head, "No need, That's okay. I didn't want to him to say sorry "

They both smiled at each other. "So you come here everyday with him" Palak asked him, they both were still standing somehow she felt comfortable with this stranger.

"No, I had canceled our last outing so I had to bring him here today" there was affection in his voice for his son.

"So your wife gave you that duty today" Palak tried to joke but suddenly she realized that she had said a wrong thing as she saw the pain on his face.

"My wife passed away when Aayush was born" Vijay said and Palak was not sure what to do or say.

"I am sorry Vijay. I am so sorry" Palak said and saw the rueful smile on Vijay's face. "Thanks and it's okay. I am almost used it. I just feel sad for Aayush he had not even seen his mother" they both looked at Aayush who was playing with the other kids.

He saw them and ran towards them, his one hand was behind his back. When he was in front of her he shyly offered her a flower a small one but a flower.

Touched she took the flower and smiled at him, "Thank you" She looked at Aayush longingly if she and Sourav would have planned a child sometime back, he or she would have been as same age as Aayush and maybe she would have been in the park alone with the child.
