A Little Bit Human...

Feeling sad? Well, here's a little something to while your time.....
Have you ever felt trapped in your own mind? Never able to take your eyes off a dead fly or a point in the wall or just someone’s face? Ever felt that you are being weird, just staring at someone’s face with a blank look; and in spite of knowing that, you still can’t shift your gaze away.

Our eyes see the world, each one’s vision holds a different view. Our mind gets trapped in a train of thought, triggered by the view we behold. The mind is like an observatory, the eyes are the tools to the world - in our attempts to dismantle the mechanics of our life or to dissect someone else’s life to study the understanding of humans and their relation to their surroundings, their versatility.

Sitting in the dining hall of the hostel mess, if I see someone depressed, eating with slow moves, audibly sniffing away tears, under the shadow of a couple of eyes, shall I assume that it is in act to draw attention or is the misery, the sadness too limitless?

And if I see someone laughing with what they call friends showing a smile that fails to reach the eyes, shall I assume they are happy?

Half the things we see are lies, if we really observe, maybe we can see real emotions behind the curtain of a false facade.

Two friends sitting together, best of friends, and inside they might loathe each other’s company, sticking together only because they wouldn’t want to be alone.

A teacher teaching a class, inside worried about the accusations her husband dumped on her, but still cares enough to console a crying child.

A lady climbing down the stairs and a stranger helping her down.

A classmate crying over a breakup, a classmate who is not yet a friend, consoling them.

A stranger helping another by the road.

A smile at the florist, a thank you for the lift man, a good evening for your teacher, a comforting word for a friend… whoever you are, with all your messed up emotions or mean thoughts, there is still something in you which makes you good. I am not saying such people are better than the rest; they are just humble enough to honor the simple connection that exists between two individuals. Nothing more. Nothing less either.

So the next time someone to pauses to let you pass first out the door, pause to say thanks or just turn and smile. Someone you respect, a teacher comes in front of you, wish them a good day, because if you truly respect them for who they are, your face will break into a smile and you will wish them hoping in your heart that they have a good time that something good happen to them.

Most of these times, the wishes actually work and more often than not, are well-received and equally well-returned.

If you see a friend or a classmate miserable, pat their shoulder or smile at them, you don’t need to know the cause of their sadness, because just an assurance - that things will be alright, is enough on your part to offer them hope, the rest is up to them.

What does it take to be a little of what we really are?
To be a little bit human sometimes?
Someone likes you...
P.S. Have a great day.
