A Halloween Story

A story why she thinks her life has gone bad and hooks up with some not so good people and tries to convert her friends On Halloween night. What started as just a good Halloween teenage fun turned out to be so much more.
School started at normal time that day but it felt different, not only because it was Halloween, but it felt unnatural. Ashley walk out of her house and just stared at the sky.
"Hey Ash is everything ok?" asked her close friend Sara.
"Yea why" Ashley replayed fast.
"You just look like something is wrong."
"Well Sara do you feel it?" Ashley asked in worrisome voice.
"Feel what?" said Sara sacredly." Are you trying o scare me like you did last year Ash?"
"No there’s something here I can feel it. I just don’t know what it is."
"Come on we are going to be late to school, and we all know you can be late anymore."
As they walked down the street Ashley started to lighten up. ‘Maybe I’m just being paranoid’ Ashley thought to herself. Finally arriving to school. They both looked up and then back at each other.
"Great another day here "said Sara jokingly. Walking up the steps into the door, Ashley turns and stares at the Church behind her.
"Come one Ashley that’s the bell yells Sara from inside the school building.
"God I can’t wait till tonight can you guys" said Chris
"I guess not" relayed Sara," what we are going to do,"
"I don’t know really where do you want to trick or treat this year, last year it was at my addition. "
"Well my addition people don’t really separate Halloween how about Ashley’s there’s a lot of people that enjoy Halloween there." Commented Sara in an excited voice. "Ash is that ok’
There was no movement coming from Ashley she sat still as a board, just looking into the sky. Her hand behind her to help hold her top half of her body up. Her hair flowed down there back over her shoulders like someone just got done brushing it that way. Her legs spread out without a care in the world. She was oblivious to all that was around her.
"Ash are you listening to me come one?" Sara says as she hits Ashley’s leg.
"What, no I wasn’t listening does It look like I was, in fact I never really do listen to you Sara." Ashley said in a bitch tone.
"God what he hell is wrong with you today, you’ve been acting weird all morning what is going on this isn’t like you at all.
"don’t worry about it you wouldn’t understand even if you tired to, and yea you guys can come over if you like, but I’m not trick or treating I’ve got other things to do.
Chris stared to laugh a little bit trying to say "yea like what bring the dead back to life."
"No you wouldn’t understand." Said Ashley s she got up and walked away.
As her friends sat and watched her then looked appalled that she left them. Walking slowly and sophisticated she walks over beside the statue of Mary outside the Church and just stares at it. Her face scared but confident, she mutters word under her breath. Her friends star at her no words are able to come out of her mouth.
"Come on guys’ time to go back in." Yells the teacher from the front step of the school. All the students start to head back into the building. Sara and Chris walk over to go get Ashley so they could all walk in together but as soon as Sara looks over Ashley was already on her way in the doors.
"I wonder what’s going on with her today" commented Sara in a concerned voice.
"Me too. You know I bet it’s that time of the month for her." Chris relayed jokingly.
Sara looked at him in an appalled face as if he did not just say that. Her arm reached across as if she was going to hit his stomach then quickly moved her hand to hit his face softly, and she sprinted to the doors.
"Oh n o you don’t." Chris Yell as he jolted down the pavement after her.
Sitting in class Ashley just gazed out the window. Chris and Sara tried to pay attention to what their teacher had to say but both were draw to the faces and the words that Ashley was making. Sometimes she would snap out of it and start to pay attention and in the corner of her eye would see Sara star at her.
"What?’ she whispered to Sara.
"Are you ok?"
"Yes of course just tired, I didn’t get much sleep."
"You lire I know you better than that."
"Whatever." Ashley said as her head turned back to the board.
As the bell rang for all the student to start heading home Ashley was the first out the door to try and escape her questionnaire friends. She had decided to take the back way home just to try something new. About half way home she heard someone yell at her from down the road.
"Hey Ashley." He heard she knew it wasn’t Chris or Sara they would have called her as. She was Confused who else would be calling for her especially by Ashley. As she turned around she say her friend Travis running down the sidewalk. Travis was a friend she met from the library, when she did go. He was about 21 years old. His hair was pitch black, he wore contacts that mad his eyes seem dark and lifeless. He wore his black and green Tripp pants that covers his black skater shoes all but the end. He wore a Insane Clown Posse T-shirt that looked as if he dog used it as a chew toy.
"Hey you know what tonight it don’t you?" he asked as they continued down the street.
"Yea stupid Halloween. Why" she said in annoyed tone.
"not only is it Halloween it’s one of the most famous and special Halloweens we will probably have in a long time." Remarked Travis shocked.
"What why is that?"
"Because it lays on the full moon and not just any moon,"
"Oh my god it is that’s hey I’ve been feeling this way, I can’t believe I forgot about it. It’s the blood of the moon tonight isn’t it." Ashley said cutting him off.
"Yes so are you coming?"
"Coming where?’
"To the séance tonight."
"No I have to go out with Sara and Chris we do every year."
"Come on it’s the biggest night that we have all been waiting for. We need you, your our leader you’re the strongest of all of us."
"No I’m not I just joined what about Rachel or Michel he can call them cant he?’
"No only you, you’re the only one that can call them, they always flow through you that’s why you feel the way you do. Come on Ashley we need you."
"I don’t Travis I can try."
Ashley turned and headed on her way back to her house.
"Think about it Ashley and call me you can’t just leave us on one the most important days. They won’t forgive you if you do."
His voices started to fade by every step she took. As she started to walk up the drive way Travis’s voices enter her mind once again. Her hand lifted over her ears thinking that is she held them his voice would disappear. As she walked through the door Maggie came running from the kitchen. Maggie her little red Duchene that essentially belonged to her father, but ended up being more like hers. She walked though her living room heading to the back of the house where she entered her bedroom. She walked about half way in and through her booked down on the floor next to her desk. Maggie who fallowed her all the way to her room jumps up on her bed and started wiggling her tail. Ashley turned about and shut the door, then headed back to her bed where Maggie awaited her. She laid on her stomach and reached under her bed and pulled out a stack of 5 books. On top was "Witches Datebook." She sat up in her bed and opened the little calendar and turned it to October.
"Oh god Maggie I can’t believe I forgot, what kind of Wiccan am I." she said as she started to rub Maggie’s back.
As she put the date book down she pulled another book off the stack. It was a blue and black book with a girl with her head down and behind her was pentagram big letters at the top of the book read, "Earth Magic. A Book of Shadows for Positive witches."
"Why me, this is easy to read. They could just stop by and pick the books and stuff up." She said to herself trying to convince herself not to go. "But it would be cool to lead the ceremony for once specially on one of the most important nights."
Ashley through her legs over the edge of her bed and pushed herself up. She walked slowly to her closet, as if she was scared that something was going to pop out of it and scare her. As she opened the door the carpet turned form gray to red. On the back wall was a picture of a scroll, on the top was a pentagram and under read:
Behind Wiccan Laws ye must,
In perfect love and perfect trust.
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill:
An’ ye harm none, do what ye will.
What ye send forth comes back to thee
So ever mind the law of thee.
Fallow this with mind and heart
Merry ye meet and merry yes part
Below this was a stand that held large old book that looked as if it was over 100 years old. Lined up against the wall was a line of about 10 thin alternating candles of all colors. Toward the front of the stand were3 bigger candles one in red another in white and the last in black. Both sides were lined up the same way. Her closet had no hangers, or anyplace that you would be able to hang anything, instead there was shelves that she had filled with books and boxes full of Wiccan supplies. On the floor laid a black mat that had a pentangle imprint. She walked over to the alter and knelt down onto the mat and grabbed a liter from one of the shelf. As she started to light the back row of candles someone knocked on her bedroom door.
"Ashley," her mother yelled from outside of the door.
"Go away I’m reading" she yelled back’
"Come unlock your door you know I hate that, and you have a guest out here anyway."
Ashley quickly blows out the candles and walked out of her closet and shut the door. She looked at Maggie really fast saying, "God I swear I can’t get any privacy." As she opened the door she sees Joel.
"Hey what’s up," he asked in a excited voice.
"Nothing, what are you doing here?"
"I came to see you." He said consentingly
"Ok mom I got it you can leave know." Ashley committed sinisterly
"Ok ok I’m leaving just be good ok." Said Ashley’s mom as she started to walk back to the form of the house. Ashley shut her door and walked to her bed where Maggie was still laying. Softly she started to stoke Maggie’s back.
"So what are you doing here, you never come over."
"I came to see how you were doing Ashley is that ok?"
"Why do you care Joel?" Ashley sat and stared at Joel with a hateful look upon her face. "Since when do you care what happened to me? Was it before when you kissed me or was it when you hit me?"
"You know I didn’t mean to do that I was drunk and so were you."
"And that’s enough for me to just forgive and forget we were drunk."
"Ok you know that’s not really why I’m here."
"No duh. " Ashley gave him a stupefied face." So why are you really here then?"
"You know why." Joel stared Ashley in the eyes and pointed to her closet. "I know you know and I know you are trying to get out of it."
"What did you suddenly take an interest into what Travis and I do now; you never cared before it was all a game to you."
"Damn it Ashley you know better than anyone that‘s not a game. It never has been and never will be."
"Well you could have fooled me you always acted as if it was."
"I know I was trying to impress you." Joel walks over to Ashley and runs his hands through her hair." I know I was wrong and I know I was stupid by Ashley you have to."
"Yea right be there in a cemetery with you." Ashley stood up and walked to her door." I would let the Gods kill me before I went in there with you" Ashley opened her door and asked him to leave.
Once Joel was out of her room she opened the Closet door once more. She knelt down on the mat and started to light the back row of candles. "Hopefully nobody comes knocking again." She said under her breath.

Ashley blew out all the candles and stood up. She looked around the alter feeling as if she has forgot something. But she didn’t know what. She turned and walked out of the closet, as she started to shut the door a cool Wind blow through her hair.
"What the" She said as she looked at her Window. She walked over to her window seal and sat on the extra part of the window seal. As she separated the curtains she another cool wind blew through her room only this time coming from the opposite corner of the room. She turned fast to see what it was, but there was nothing. The phone rang once, and then stopped. It started to ring once more and Ashley got up and fan to the phone was fast as she could.
"Hello" she said as she put the phone to her face.
"God I thought you would never pick up Ash." Sara’s voice said through the phone.
"What it only rang once over here"
"Well it’s rang like 5 times on my phone." Committed Sara, "What was up with you today you kind of worried me and Chris."
"Nothing I just got a lot on my mind."
"Like what Travis."
"Yea I guess him and Joel stopped by today." Ashley said annoyingly.
"What why, what did he want, your mom let him in, what did he say," Sara asked franticly
"Hold on a min stop with the quest. Ok. He just wanted to see if we cool and see if I would hang out tonight."
"You said no right, because you know Chris and I are coming over so we can go out right, you told him didn’t you."
"Well not exactly I mean.
"Ashley we always go out." Sara Cut Ashley off in mid sentence with an angry voice.
"Yea but we can always change way, beside don’t you think we are too old to go trick or treating any more, and beside I don’t have a costume. You and Chris can still come over before and we can hang out but."
"No you’re coming with us."
"What if I have other plans god damn Sara, I have a life other then you guys." Ashley said in a annoyed angered tone.
"What are you talking about and chill out chick, just there won’t be much more of us hanging out and this might be our last Halloween together and hey what other plans would you have and with who those freak friends of your>"
"There not freaks and yea I do, I think."
"What are you guys going to do something the church wouldn’t approve of again ,come on Ashley be real, you’re doing all that Wiccan crap for attention by Travis, and it’s not worth it."
"You don’t understand Wicca is a part of my life know, yes I started to get Travis to notice me but if you really read one of the books you’ll see it makes since more than the whole bible thing."
"Bible thing. You used to believe in that bible thing, word for word. What happened to you Ash, it’s like I don’t know you anymore.
"well that’s cause you don’t know me anymore get it."
"No I don’t get it
