A Dark Temptation (4)
What is Eric's secret?
Cassandra quickly ran to her next class. She was late. As she entered the room, the teacher looked up from his desk, "Nice for you to finally join us Miss Simmons, take a seat please,"
Cassandra blushed and ran to her desk. Felicity looked over at her, "Why are you late, are you all right? You looked a little bit pale."
Cassandra gave a little smile, "Um, I felt a little sick, the flu has been going around my family for awhile now,"
"Really, well… feel better," Felicity leaned away from her. Cassandra rolled her eyes, cheerleaders were all the same.
All lesson, Eric’s words rang through her head. "You can’t back out now, it isn’t customary…."
‘What does he mean?’ Cassandra thought, ‘can’t possibly be serious, I can’t marry him. But for some reason I really don’t think he was joking." She sighed. She thought over their conversation. She thought about his eyes, how they looked, so warm, but yet so dangerous……"
The bell rang, finally. She packed up her books and scurried out, she had just reached the door when the teacher called out her name, "Ah, Cassandra, could you possibly do me a favor? Do you live near Macenzy Antiques?"
Cassandra thought about it, "Yes, I do."
"Would you mind dropping this form to the shop owner?"
"Sure," she walked over and took the form.
"Thank you. That is all."
Cassandra hoped into her car and drove off. She turned around the corner to Macenzy’s Antiques. She walked through the alley way, but as she did she heard a sound. It was the sound of short gasps. Curious she walked quicker and as she turned the corner, she saw two figures in the distance near the trash bin.
As she walked nearer she recognized one of the figures. And it was no one other than Eric Sinclair.

He was in lip-lock with some girl. From the way she was dressed, she looked like a junky, short purple hair, and black clothing. But something was wrong with this picture; they just seemed to have their mouths pressed together and that was all. No passion, no movement, no nothing, they were just so still. Finally, Eric pulled away, but the girl didn’t do anything. He smiled and dropped her. She slid down to the floor, pale, lifeless, unmoving.
Cassandra heard her intake of breath but so did he. His eyes flashed towards her and he grinned, the grin of a devil. Cassandra’s eyes went wide. In a flash, he was in front of her, she stumbled in shock. She tried to run away, but he grabbed her and pinned her against the wall. "Where are you going Cassandra?" Eric asked.
Eric rolled her name on his tongue when ever he said it. It sounded exotic. Cassandra never thought her name could sound that enchanting before. She fought against his grip. "Where I am going is none of your business you sick,-"
He rolled his eyes. "Again with the name calling, need I remind you who has the upper hand here?" He pressed his body against hers. Cassandra’s eyes flew wide. The warmth she felt was unexpected.
He stared into her eyes. She tried to avoid his gaze but he took her chin and turned her towards him. "I’m not the bad guy here that girl over there was a bad person, but I still tried to save her…."
"Yeah, I can totally see how you helped that girl. What did you do to her? You better wish I don’t go to the cops about this," she spat.
He looked at her with serious eyes now and said, "Why would you go to the cops, you have no evidence. I didn’t kill the girl, I tried to save her, I’m the good guy," the corner of his mouth twitched and the playfulness returned to his eyes. "But I guess I have no right to take you as my wife, or turn you for that matter, that wouldn’t be what the good guy does. But then again, who said that good guys needed to be entirely good, where will the fun be in that?"
"Turn me? Wife What are you tal-"
He leaned towards her. Cassandra knew that he meant to kiss her. But she wouldn’t let that happened. She wouldn’t be like that girl over there, still and lifeless. When the hand on her jaw relaxed the tiniest bit, she did what she thought of first. She head-butted him. His head snapped back. Cassandra clutched her head, overwhelmed by the pain. Knowing that she had the lead, she ran to her car.
Cassandra flopped inside the front seat, put the key into the ignition and sped off, not looking back. She zoomed past every traffic light, not bothering to see if it was green or red. She forgot about the form she was supposed deliver. She had to go somewhere where Eric couldn’t find her. She would have to go somewhere far away, he was unsafe, dangerous. He didn’t give any excuse about why the girl was like that. No, instead he grinned, just grinned.
No doubt she would have to have a very good explanation as to why she would want to leave, but it was either that or her life.

Eric rubbed his head, what a feisty one she was. But that was what he liked about her. He could have gone after her, but he was tired and he decided to let it be called a day. This was going to be fun. He sniffed the air. There was someone new in town, and that person targeted that girl. That someone was just like him, but much more lethal.
