A Dark Temptation 12- The Final

Well, guys, this is the last series in A Dark Temptation. Enjoy! The END
Cassandra watched helplessly, she couldn’t do anything, if she got involved, she would just get in the way.

"Cassandra!" Eric yelled. She turned to him. He tossed something in the air, "Kill him!" but Eric threw it too hard and Cassandra had to run and get it. When she picked it up, she realized what he threw was a gun. With a silver bullet. It felt cold and heavy in her hands. Eric wanted her to kill Mark, trusted her to kill Mark, but would she be able to do it?

"Cassandra," Eric called, "Do it!"

She turned around and gasped. Eric had his arm wrapped around the throat of…… Eric. The two men, both looked like Eric.

"Shape shifter," she whispered. Mark was a shape shifter, and he turned himself into Eric. Her breathing quickened. She had to make a choice.

"Kill him Cassandra do it! He’s Mark" yelled one Eric.

"No, I’m not Cassandra! Kill him. He’s Mark!" yelled the other one.

She looked back and forth from them, trying to find the slightest difference, but there were none, but, their eyes. Mark had shape shifted before into Eric and didn’t manage to copy Eric’s eyes. She looked at them. She knew which one was Mark, she knew she had to kill him.

Slowly, with both fingers on the gun, she raised it. Her hands shook violently. She aimed, closed her eyes in a split second and fired. The impact was great. She dropped the gun and fell to her knees. The Eric that had the hold around the other one was still standing.
Mark’s body, shook and twisted, his teeth were barred in pain. He fell to his knees, returned to his form and sank to the floor.

"Cassandra," Eric said as he ran towards her, He kissed her hair, her face, her lips…… and his hands held her face as if memorizing every curve of it. "I knew you could do it, I love you Cassandra, I love you,"

Cassandra nodded and started crying, "I…. I….. I just kkkk… killed him…." She was shaking badly now. Eric crushed her against his chest and rubbed her back.

"You didn’t have a choice, love,"

Cassandra gently pushed him away and ran over to Mark.

She pulled him up by his collar and saw blood leaking out of his mouth. "Where is she? Where’s my mother?" she said.

Mark chuckled and looked away. Cassandra shook him hard, "Where is she?"

Mark raised a finger to his lips as if to say, "I’m not telling," he gave one last heart-less chuckle before he stopped breathing altogether.

"No, NO! Tell me where she is! Tell me!" she screamed as she shook him harder knowing that it was useless. A warm body came up behind her and gently pried her hands of mark’s collar. She sobbed against Eric’s chest.

"Shhhh…. It’s alright love, come we must get you home, for I have a feeling you will like what you see there," he said.

She nodded. Eric scooped her up in his arms and carried her to his car.

When they arrived there, Eric rang the doorbell. Cassandra looked at him weirdly, "Why did you ring the door bell? Nobody’s going to-"

Just then the door opened and who was standing in the doorway was no one other than her mother.

"Mom!" Cassandra yelled as she flung herself into her arms.

"Cassandra, why are you hugging me so fiercely and who is this handsome young man and…. Why are you so dusty?" Cassandra released her mother and looked at her.

"Mom, don’t you remember-"

"I’m sorry Miss, she ate too much chocolate my dad made, so she’s a bit hyper," Eric said and gave Cassandra a look.

Cassandra realized he would explain everything later.

"Well, yes, why don’t you come in …..Eric?" her mother said.

"I’d be delighted," he replied.

After they had lunch together, Eric helped Cassandra do the dishes while her mom wiped the table.
"What-" she started.

"I guess you have a lot of questions, well I’ll start from the beginning, the truth is, is that one of my dad’s friends is a seeker, a soul-eater with an enhance ability to find someone using their scent. My dad led his friend to the house where Mark’s scent was all over the place and found where he was located before I rang Mark. So all we had to do was follow where Mark’s scent had been, and there were a lot of places he had been, so we split up and eventually found your mother. She was….." he stopped as if deliberating as to whether he should tell her the truth, "She was locked in a small isolated room, concrete walls and she lay motionless on the bed. My father breathed a bit of his soul into her, to restore her back to her natural state and wiped out her memory. So she may live a bit longer than your average mother,"

I had stopped washing, just sat starring into space. "So she has no re-collection of what happened?"
"None,"

"We’ll I guess that’s good then, wh…. What about us?"
Eric’s smile was coy and he hugged me. "Now, we live happily ever after,"

He sank down to one knee, searched his left breast-pocket and pulled out a diamond ring.
"Cassandra Simmons, I fell in love with you the first day we met, I have loved you when you were mad at me, annoyed with me, even when you hated me, I promise to love you truly and forever, will you be mine and marry me?"

"Yes, oh yes," Cassandra said as she blushed deeply.

Just then her mother came into the kitchen. Her smile was knowing, "Am I interrupting something?"
"Mom, I would like you to officially meet my fiancée, Eric Sinclair,"

#######################################

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride,"

Eric lifted the veil to see his beautiful wife and kissed her soundly on the lips. Applause broke out as Cassandra blushed. She turned her back and threw the flowers in the air, she didn’t see who caught it, she was too busy looking at her husband.

"Are you happy?" he asked her.

"Are you?" she replied.

"Yes, thank you Cassandra,"

"For what?"

"For giving me my soul back,"

At those words Cassandra’s heart exploded into happiness.

She had finally given into temptation, and wouldn’t have loved it more.

The End.

*Are you happy with the ending? Tell me what you think.
