A Compromise with Evil
Bargaining with evil is the trap set by the devil in people’s lives. It is so costly that we don’t realize it until it is usually too late…just like a mouse attracted by the cheese in the mouse trap. Keep you eyes open and keep an eye on the consequences!
When we allow the devil a place in the church he is going to take a lot more then you give him…lets take a look at II Peter 2:19; "While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage"
Satan and his demons will not sit idly by in the back seat while God is being worshiped and people are being saved, Oh no, he will get up off the seat you gave him and he will give it his best to bring the entire church under his power…and it will be much easier for him to do something like that because we had already given him a place in the church in an attempt to compromise. Do you know what? Many times the Devil wins such battles because he is very subtle and he takes his time, a lot of the time a church does not even realize that it is dead before it is too late.
"And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said. I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate."1Corinthians 6:15-17
We are not supposed to make compromises with the world no matter how much it might appeal to us, as the verses say above, Christ does not mix with Belial, the believer does not mix with the unbeliever, the world does not mix with the church…we are to be separate from the world and everything that has to do with the world. How many churches nowadays have electric guitars and drum sets to help lead the church in worship before the living God, but if their hearts are only in the rhythm of the music, there is not much accomplished. The heart has to be in God’s rhythm. The music you prefer is a mirror of your prayer life.
The church cannot mix with the world, it cannot make compromises or agreements…"Devil you get this much of the church and Jesus you get this much", just does not work.
"Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate."
We need to start separating ourselves from the world, we need to stop compromising with the Devil, because not only does that give the Devil a foothold in our lives but it also breaks the perfect fellowship that every Christian should have with Christ Jesus.
This does not just apply to the church, it goes in the family as well, many times when Christian parents give the Devil a foothold in the family, say they make a compromise about the rock music or the friends that are in their teenagers lives, then they have just given the Devil a good excuse to mess up that family or that teenager. And the same goes with the parents as well, maybe it will not be rock music, but the Devil is very good at finding things to bargain with.
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: resist steadfast in the faith" (1Peter 5:8,9)
It all comes down to faith, faith that God will take care of that church and keep it alive, faith that God will take care of you or your teenage boy or girl…when we have faith in God, then compromising with the Devil will be seen just as it is… unintelligent and very dangerous, not to mention sinful.
