A Brief Traveller’s Guide To Marbella On The Costa Del Sol
Article pointing out the many attractions of Marbella and why its such a great place to explore for both families and couples alike.
If you are in need of a well earned break, then Marbella can play host to all of your desires. Located within a short drive of Malaga Airport, on the Costa del Sol, its positioning offers us the chance to enjoy a location that has plenty to offer.
It is best known for its beaches, enjoying their positioning on the southern coast of Spain, but there is more to Marbella than simply soaking up the sun. As you will see whenever you visit, this location has plenty of activities on offer as well. It is just one of the many reasons why so many celebrities have homes in the area.
The beaches of Marbella
There are a wonderful choice of beaches to indulge in when visiting Marbella. The Golden Mile – so called because of the golden sands – offers plenty of spots where you can lay down your towel and soak up some rays. From Marbella itself you can also go out as far as Calahonda, to find other beaches and entertainment too.
Funny Beach is also a great beach to investigate while in Marbella, particularly if you have young children who are in need of some fun activities. The trampolines and water activities on offer here make it a joy for the youngsters.
Going shopping
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to the shops that are scattered all over Marbella. From the largest shopping center to the smallest individually owned store, when it comes to shopping, Marbella has shopping in abundance.
There are also plenty of fashion houses represented here, but if your pockets are not so deep then you can visit a number of department stores that sell many different items. India Exotica is worth a look for its Eastern promise, while the Chopard Boutique gives us a taste of what kind of jewelery we could buy if money were no object.
Things to see and places to go
If you would like to see the place where the rich and famous congregate, then we should head for Puerto Banus. Puerto Banus started life in the middle of 1970, and the huge marina provides us with a great sightseeing opportunity.
There are also two beaches, giving the area another element of attraction. But we can also walk away from the beaches to browse around the many shops. As we might guess, these are perfect for the movie stars and celebrities who have made the area their home. Such names as Dolce and Gabbana can be found here.
Places to eat and drink
Tapas bars are a familiar sight in Marbella. They will also give us a taste of what real Spanish food is like. Not only can we enjoy a wide range of food from different countries and cultures, but we can also sample them in a range of different and very picturesque restaurants and cafes too.
As we walk around the Old Town we can find many different places to stop for a bite to eat. Booking early is advisable during the busier times though, otherwise we may find we are in for a long wait.
Marbella’s weather
We may still be able to lie on the beach during the winter if it is mild, such are the conditions on offer here. The summers are hot and sunny, as we would expect.
But of course it does rain from time to time and sometimes this may happen during the summer, although not often.
The old town
As we would expect, the old town offers us a glimpse into the past. We should look out for the five hundred year old stone fountain, and castle ruins which tell us something about the history of Marbella.
The Orange Square
We can find this square in old town. It is over five hundred years old and offers us a classical view of Spain, with the whitewashed houses and buildings on each side. These include the Chapel of Santiago.
As you can see, there is more to enjoy and soak up in Marbella than simply the sun. With lots of beaches located near to eateries and bars, you don’t have to travel too far to find all that Marbella has to offer.
So whether you like sunbathing all the time or wandering around its many winding streets, Marbella is a great destination for us to explore.
