A Blue Blood Bull Dog
A great pet and safe companion, the Blue Blood Bull dog is indeed a rare breed. He is strong and reliable but don’t forget that he has a mind of his own so make sure you know what you want when you are around him!
Many people don’t realize that there are many different breeds of dog that have been developed in the United States of America but, not all the dogs we have in America today have come from a different country. One of these breeds is the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, the ABBB. This dog was used on farms and plantations years ago but they are very rare these days, it is estimated that only 150 to 200 of these dogs are alive in the world today, they are nearly extinct.
This amazing and rare breed was first developed in Georgia; it was bred and kept in existence by the Lane family who got their first dogs from a plantation in Alapaha. There is an ongoing debate as to whether the Alapaha Blue Blood is a distinct breed or just a bulldog that can be found everywhere. However, if you look at the pictures depicting the two breeds, it becomes quite obvious the fact that they are very different. The American bulldog does not look anything like the Blue Blood and anyone who takes a look at their pictures should be able to see that, no problem.
The Alapaha Blue Blood Bull Dog is a descendant of the Bulldogs brought over from England in the 1700’s, there have been few registrations with the ARF, in the past ten years there have only been like around 700 registrations of these dogs.
These dogs were used on the plantations for just about everything, they were used as guard dogs and they were used for herding cattle and pigs, they were also used for hunting, and many other things, so you can imagine that they are very agile, very quick on their feet.
The Blue Blood can be can be stubborn even though he is intelligent, it is one of those situations where the dog wants to know what he will get out of the agreement. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bull Dog is not an aggressive dog but when he is asked to protect something he will protect it, whether is be his family, his home or something else, these are dogs that you can depend upon.
These dogs not only have the bull dog name but they also have the bull dog body, they are well built, giving that feeling of power and strength, they are athletic and because of their origins they love exercise, so a daily walk is a must for this breed.
The coat of the Blue Blood is short and it does not shed too badly; because of that, it is recommended that you just give it a brushing every now and then to keep it in top condition, some people say that you should give the dog a bath every two weeks and others claim that in does not need to be bathed that often.
I say when it comes to bathing the dog, you should just keep in mind if it is an inside dog or a working dog, does it start to smell doggie after two weeks or does he smell fine? Do not be lazy about it, but washing a dog too often will also strip the coat of essential oils that he needs, without them, the dog can develop skin conditions, which will just cost you in vet bills.
The Blue Blood Bull dog is a dog that should weigh 50 to 90 pounds and be anywhere from 20 to 27 inches high at the shoulder. They live up to 15 years if kept healthy and if they are well cared for.
When you are looking for a puppy, always do a lot of research on the animal you want to buy, just to make sure that it will be able to fit in well with your life style, and make sure that you will not regret buying him down the road, sad situations like that can easily be avoided.
Always buy your puppy from a breeder with a good reputation, you should be allowed to look at the parents of the puppy and evaluate their temperament before making any decisions about buying him. Never buy a puppy that is overly bold or too timid because these are the ones that will grow up to be unpredictable and possibly aggressive.
