5 Adventure Holidays Not to be Missed

A quick guide on some alternative holiday options for those of you who are looking to get a little more out of your next getaway.
Perhaps the though of sitting on a tropical island with nothing more to do than drink cocktails and bake in the sun is enough to make you instantly bored out of your mind. Some of us are less inclined to be able to "do nothing" and are looking for a little more in a holiday. If you are up for a bit of thrill, a touch of adventure and some unique experiences, then check out these alternative holiday ideas:

Mountain Biking Holidays
If you are out to find a decent adrenalin kick, combined with some breathtaking scenery and some serious exercise, then a mountain biking holiday could be for you. Prices range from £ 399 upwards, depending on where you go and what equipment you will require. Keeping it within the UK and taking your own mountain bike will save you a bit of cash, but it might be quite nice to take advantage of one of the many exclusive mountain biking venues in the likes of France, for a long weekend perhaps?

Clay Pigeon Shooting
Clay pigeon shooting makes for a great weekend away. A chance to test your hand-eye co-ordination and get yourself into the great outdoors makes for a perfect action-filled weekend break. The UK offers many clay pigeon venues nearby accommodation, providing for everyone from complete beginners to advanced shooters.

Surfing Holidays
If you are lucky enough to have your own surfing gear and be somewhat of a seasoned professional then surfing weekends away are probably already high up on your list of things to do. If not, this is definitely something worth a try. Get some friends together and head to the coast for a great adventurous weekend out. Coastal towns often some great cottage accommodation and tuition can start from as little as £30.00 for the afternoon, including equipment hire.

Sled Dog Racing
Believe it or not, you won’t need to stretch as far away as Alaska to take part in a sled dog racing experience anymore. You need not look any further than the Cairngorms region of Scotland in order to getaway and immerse yourself in the world of sled dog racing. The dedicated sled dog centre is geared to take you out on controlled, supervised trips, but still giving you a taste of the exhilaration and excitement of a real sled dog race.

Holiday Parks
If you can’t really make up your mind about which one you would like to do first, then maybe a holiday park would be the ideal option. Perhaps a long weekend away with the kids, where there is an activity to suit the entire family is what would suit you best. You can try your hand at a variety of different adventure sports, from rock climbing to mountain biking, and keep your options open… just incase.
