50th Birthday Party Ideas
A birthday party isn't any fun unless it is well planned and carefully executed. Here are a few 50th Birthday Party Ideas which might make your task easier..
You could plan a party which takes the person down memory lane. Decorate the room with pictures which were taken throughout the persons' 50 years. Play the music that was popular at that time and serve food from around the same time. Bring out the school and college magazines from the attic, and while sending out the invitations, do make sure to mention that the guests should be dressed in costumes that date back at least 30 years.
Hiring a boat could also be a good idea. You could decorate it with festoons, candles and lanterns. (Dim the lights) Have a live band on board belting out good music. Serve food associated with water like fish, oysters and crabs, and sail away into the sunset.
If you or the person you are holding the party for, likes the sun, a beach party would be fun! Pick an area on the beach which is slightly away from the maddening crowd. Bring out the beach chairs, umbrellas and folding tables, turn on the music and dance. You could order or bake a birthday cake in the shape of a beach with trees and Hawaiian dolls.
You could have a theme party based on Hollywood. Ask all the guests to dress up like the actors of yesteryears. Use posters from old movies and put them around. Have the birthday persons favorite movie set remade. Include cameras, lights and a director (You could ask the birthday person to play the role.)Include scripts, dialog and music. You could serve food that is assorted.
Collect pictures of the birthday person with a range of expressions on his/ her face. Then have a contest to decide who can come up with the best caption for each one of the photographs. Decorate the venue with things related to photography. The cake could be shaped like a camera.
If you are in search of a more mature and sophisticated party idea, you could go in for classical music, three or four good wines, six to seven kinds of cheese and some crackers. Use linen tablecloth, fancy napkins and crystal, china and silverware on the table. If you are planning party games, hold simple contests like who can come up with an outrageous description of one of the wines or the cheese.
If the birthday person likes having fun, you could hold a pajama party. Have the guests arrive in their nicest nightwear and plan for the birthday persons favorite music, movies and party games. Have the guests stay over. Provide mattresses for them to sleep on.
How about booking a hotel for a weekend? To keep up with the birthday festivities, you could book an entire hotel for the birthday person, family and close friends. This will help the birthday person relax and bask in the attention.
You could also take the birthday person and close friends/relatives bungee jumping, snorkeling, scuba diving or skiing. A birthday party underwater or in the air might be a secret dream come true....but, a word of caution, before you plan such a thing, do make sure the person has a strong heart!
