"My Best Friend"
Chapter 1
"Tick. tick.."clock is ticking. It was already 5am in the morning, time for Shekinah to wake up and fix herself for going to school.
"Shekinah, time to wake up from your bed! breakfast is ready"... It was the Mother of Shekinah.
"Yes Mom! wait for a while pls!"... Shekinah answers.
Every morning, before leaving the room, Shekinah makes her daily devotion, meditating the Word of God, and Praying. Because
Shekinah is a Christian Born Again and she wants to live with Jesus in His heart. After a time of devoting to the Lord, Shekinah starts
fixing herself, till 6 am comes and she is ready to travel on the way her school.
Shekinah is a 1st yr college student in not so popular college school. She was already in the 2nd semester of the school year,
and after a week, it will be their vacation.
"Good morning Sheh!" a greeting from Shekinah's Friend, Lhen.
"Same to you.. am I already late?"
"Not really, class will start at 7am."
"Good."
Shekinah's schedule of school days is from Monday to Saturday, at 7am - 11am. after going from School, she will drop by at the nearest mall and date herself, because she hates going home at too early, except those times that she wants to fall asleep. But every Friday and Saturday she wants to their church to attend practices. It was Shekinah's routine, every now and then. and this is how she meet her best friend.
One Saturday Morning, Shekinah started to get mad because of their electronic project that she can't finish.
the deadline of submission will be after 2 days, and she is wondering how she can finish it on time.
"Will you mind to join us tomorrow?" it was Emma asking.
"Where? what are we going to do?" shekinah ask.
"We will lend a help from Catherine's cousin, they told me that he can help us in our project."
"Really? but I am not available tomorrow, I am attending our Sunday service." shekinah refuse.
"Just for a day, think about your project!" Emma replied with temper.
"Ok.. Ok, what time?"
"At 10am"
"Ok i'll be there, who else is going?"
" Lhen, Cha, Dessa and Cath."
After that Conversation, Shekinah went to their church and ask for her pastor's approval for she is not going to attend their service tomorrow.
"Why you are not going to attend?" Ptr. Mhark asked.
"My classmates and I, we are going to finish our electronic project, will you allow me please?"
"Ok, for the sake of your Project, but be sure that the next Sunday you are going to attend huh?"
"Yes Pastor!"
When Sunday Morning comes, Shekinah travels going to Catherine's house. It takes an hour after she can be there. On the way, She is Praying,
"Lord, pls help us in making this project, I am helpless, and I even did all I can in doing it, but nothing works."
At Catherine's House...
"Sorry Guys a I'm late!" Shekinah said with a bit of shyness.
"It's ok, shall we start? by the way meet my cousin, Jherome...
He is going to help us." Catherine said.
Jherome started making their projects, but he can't. so the group decided to do it on their own.
It was already 3pm, but still nothing happens. They are starting to cry, because they do not even know what to do. Until they decided
to go home. Shekinah Went to the church, but she don't want to disturbed the youth in watching the movie, so she walk along the road side and sit beside it.
she started crying, she is losing hope. Suddenly, without knowing, Debora noticed her and sit beside her. Debora was one of Shekinah's close friend, from that day
Shekinah started serving the Lord, Debora was her leader, they even treat each other as best of friends, they know each other very well.
"What happened?" Debora asked with confusion.
"I am tired! I've did everything I can, but it doesn't work. I even lose a lot of money for this." Shekinah answered with tears in her eyes.
"Is it about your school project?"
"Yes..."
"Oh, stop crying, if you can't, then God can! just trust HIM, I know you can do it sis. I do believe in You!"
"Thank you Sis."
"Ahm, go with me.."
"Where?"
"I am going to treat you a soup."
"Really? sure.."
"Let's go?"
They went to a food store and ordered a soup. While eating, they talked about Debora's Life.
"How are you?" Shekinah asked.
"I am fine. Still moving on..." Debora answered with teary eyes.
"Maybe it is much better if you are going to give another chance for the two of you."
"No, I don't want it anymore. "
"Do you still love Him?"
"I'm not sure of my feelings."
Shekinah stop asking anything because she don't want to offend Debora's feeling. She knows how it hurts breaking up after a 3 and a half years of
relationship. That is what Debora is experiencing now. After a month of breaking up with James, their Church's Guitarist. Debora started telling Shekinah the real reason
of their break up.
"I am not sure if I still love him..." Debora started.
"Is it because of Luke?"
"Yes.. I'm falling for Him..." she said with teary eyes.
Shekinah is listening.
"I don't know how, and I can't help my feeling anymore. "
"How about James?" Shekinah asked.
"I don't know.."
"Do you already told him about this?"
"No, because I know, he will be hurt."
"Oh..."
"Shekinah, I don't know what to do."
"Let's Pray for that!"
The Night after that conversation, Shekinah took her cell phone and start texting all her contacts. Then James Replied.
"I'm Fine!"
"Ahm, I hope you don't mind, how is your relationship with Debora now?" Shekinah asked.
"I don't want to talk about that Please!"
"Sorry..."
Shekinah and James is not really close, although they meet each other for about 2 yrs ago. James is so quiet person, that he talk too often.
The next morning, Shekinah went to school to pass her project although it is unfinished, she will only accepting a lower grade because of an unfinished project
but it is ok. This will be the last day of the 2nd Semester and tomorrow is the start of their Summer Vacation. After passing her project, Shekinah drops by to their church
for the Dance Practice. Unexpectedly, He meet James along the way... She started to get shy while taking a step going to the church, when their eyes meet, James smiled
at her, so she smiles back, without a word. When Finally Shekinah entered the Church...
"What's wrong? It seems you're out of your mind?" Her best friend Becca asked.
"Nothing.. whoooh... I am nervous!"
"Why?" another voice from Ruth, One of Shekinah's best friend.
"Hai, I thought James is going to ignore me when he saw me." Shekinah said taking a deep breath.
"Ignore you? Why?" Becca
"I thought I offend his feelings the last night I texted Him. because I ask him about Debora"
"Ahh.. Ok!, Guys, Let start the practice!" Ruth
On their practice, every one is present except from Debora because it has a job. Suddenly, James came. and he takes Esther's attention.
"Oh.. He is really Handsome!" Esther said with gladness.
"Ha..ha, I am going to tell that to Debora!" Ruth answered.
"Oh I am just kidding! ha..ha"
"But obviously, you like Him?"
"Not at all... ha..ha"
After that conversation on the cell phone, they regularly send text messages to each other. Shekinah wants to comfort James, for she knows
how hard it's situation right now. Through Text messaging, Shekinah and James get closer, they open issues about their lives, how they feel and even their future
plans. One Morning Sunday Morning...
"James told me something..." Debora said
"What's that?" Shekinah asked.
"He told me that he is planning to court a girl when the right time comes."
"Oh really? Did he tell the name?" Shekinah replied with shock.
"No..."
"What is your reaction.?"
"I am hurt!"
Shekinah was so shocked on what Debora said. So she texted James and asked if it is true..
"Yes it is true. actually she is one of the member of the youth ministry" James replied.
Shekinah: "but who?"
James: "a top secret!"
Shekinah: "Weh? I am your friend, so please tell me, I promise, I will not going to tell it to any one."
James: "I am scared, what if the news spread and Debora knew it?"
Shekinah: "Oh common, I am trustworthy, so please tell me, who she is?"
James: "Ok.. Ok I am going to tell you little sis.. because I know I can trust you."
Shekinah: "Yehey"
James: "Its....."
Shekinah waiting..
James: "Esther"
Shekinah: "Oh really? Is that true?"
James: "Yes, it's true, I am not kidding."
