5 Ways to Enjoy Boston in the Fall
As the weather cools off and the crowds calm down, autumn is the perfect time to visit Boston. Whether you’re getting your son or daughter set up in their new dorm room or discovering Boston for the first time, you’ll want to check out these seasonal activities on your next trip to Boston.

1. Take a fall foliage tour. New England is known for its vivid autumn colors. From mid-September through October, maple, oak, birch, and other trees blossom with fiery red, sunny yellow, and golden hued leaves. Gray Line offers a fall foliage day tour which runs from mid-September to mid-October and is included with a Go Boston Card You’ll ride past gently rolling hills dotted with autumn leaves and enjoy stops at a New England tavern and an apple orchard.

2. Bike the Minuteman Bikeway. If you’re looking for a more active way to enjoy New England’s fall foliage on your trip to Boston, rent a bike and head to the Minuteman Bikeway. This scenic bikeway retraces Paul Revere’s historic mid-night ride to alert New Englanders of the Brits’ arrival. Along the way, you’ll bike through Bedford, Lexington, Arlington, and Cambridge in a route that is particularly scenic during the autumn, when leaves turn festive shades of gold and red. Open year round and free to all!

3. Explore Salem, Massachusetts. Salem is famous for the Salem Witch Trials over three hundred years ago, but the town still plays up its haunted history every October with reenactments and other events. While exploring Salem, be sure to visit the Salem Witch Museum and the House of Seven Gables. Both are included with the Go Boston Card.

4. Visit Plimoth Plantation. Before you another Thanksgiving feast, step back in time and see what life was really like in Plimouth Colony during the seventeenth century. This living history museum lets you visit a Wampanoag homesite and talk with descendants of New England’s original inhabitants. You can also wander a recreated 1627 farming village and see tailors, potters, and basket makers using the same techniques used by the Pilgrims when they first settled in Plimouth. Plimouth Plantation and Mayflower II, full-scale reproduction of the original Mayflower, are also included with the Go Boston Card.

5. Enjoy a bowl of clam chowda. What could be more satisfying than warming up with a bowl of New England clam chowder after a busy day of sightseeing? Cheers in Faneuil Hall and Beacon Hilloffers award-winning clam chowder, as well as a mouthwatering selection of burgers, salads, drinks, and more. Get 15% off lunch or dinner with your Go Boston Card!
