5 Healthy Ways to Lose Weight : Lose 15 Pounds the Healthy way

Are you eating the wrong foods? Are you sneaking into the kitchen for a late night meal? Here are 5 healthy ways to lose weight just by changing these habits!
Over the last few years I will admit, I don't exercise quite as much as I used to or probably should. As we evolve in life many changes just come naturally as a part of this "maturing". We exercise less because of family and work obligations. Hopefully, like me, your job is not quite as physical as it used to be. I remember eating whatever and whenever I wanted during my 10 years of military service. Like a lot of people I didn't have to worry much about finding a healthy way to lose weight in my younger days, it just kinda happened.

Now my job is either behind a desk and keyboard or behind a windshield and steering wheel. With a wife and 3 kids at home the last thing I wanted to do is workout after a long day at work. I do have an hour in the mornings that I exercised 3 times a week but that wasn't working at all. Also, I really try to live healthy so I didn't even consider my doctors suggestion of prescription medication as a healthy way to lose weight.

Wow! Are things different now. This didn't all happen overnight and I somehow seemed to be the last person to notice, Over the past few years the weight just snuck up on me. Now I still work out and run once or twice a week and even increased my exercise time and frequency. The weight still kept on coming so I tried to figure out what else I could do besides working out 3 hours a day, who has time for that?

So here are the 5 healthy ways to lose weight that worked for me:

#1. Sleep: Ok this is an easy one to get used to. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get at least 7 - 8 hours of sleep every night. This is a great metabolism booster.

#2. Cut out these foods: French fries, chips, soft drinks (start with no more than 1 a day), fried foods, fast foods, and at least switch to a light beer if you must.

#3. Do not eat anything 3 hours before you go to bed. Now this sounds easier than it is, good luck.

#4. Portion control: This was probably what helped me most. I'm a fairly big guy and I like a big meal and was taught to clean my plate at dinner. Now I really enjoy eating just a little bit of "everything" and I don't feel guilty for not always cleaning my plate. Get a smaller plate and eat at home more often then you will appreciate an occasional dinner out much more.

#5. Exercise: You knew this was coming! At least an hour of physical activity per day. Mix it up, maybe hit the weights one day then the next day take a walk with the family or friends. If you have children they will love it. I sometimes walk for an hour early in the morning and it really sets a positive tone for the rest of the day. Don't underestimate the benefits of walking because it will really tone you up. We walked everywhere in the military and it seemed to work very well then and still works today.

After implementing these healthy ways to lose weight I went from 240 lbs to 225 lbs in just 4 months that's 15 lbs the healthy way. Also, I tried to take a multi-vitamin and other natural supplements like niacin from time to time but not every day.
