Moving On

When disaster strikes.
I am walking on my way to the Starbucks near the mall. My girlfriend is waiting for me there. This will be our first monthsary. Excited, I really am. I waited for a year to get her answer. Furthermore, our class won in DOTA-- a computer game-now I have extra money for our date! This is really the luckiest day of my life!

I arrived with enthusiasm and a smile, until it lasted. She was talking to another guy. I moved closer and realized it was one of her past suitors. He probably did not give up.

‘I told you to leave me alone. I already love someone,’ she said.
‘Pauleen, please, give me another chance,’ he replied desperately wanting to have her, ‘I love you, I’ll do anything!’
‘Alex, if you truly love me, respect my decision. Respect my heart.’
‘But I love you!’

I don’t want to let her get hurt so I distracted them.
‘Leave her alone!’
I shouted placing myself between them and led Pauleen behind me.

He clenched his fists and lowered his head in frustration.
‘Is he… the guy… you love?’ he asked with a nervous voice. His shaking is getting faster and faster. In a sudden he got something from his pocket-a knife.

…In a flash of light, everything came quickly…

‘Yyan!’
Pauleen shouted my name and covered herself to me. She saved my life.
Blood. Blood was all over us. The knife struck her stomach. My eyes widened, my body became numb. Before she fainted, she told me something, her last words, but there was no sound I heard, not even the noise everywhere. I stared at her moving lips which smiled wonderfully before she fell on the cemented ground. It was her last smile that I will ever see.
