The Only One
Jasmine isn't human but what kind of monster is she exactly?
Jasmine hated the beast inside of her. Whenever her body thought about relaxing it was always there, waiting for her to slip up and let it loose. Today hadn't gone as planned, then again, her life hadn't gone as planned either. By now she was supposed to have a scholarship to Harvard and moved in to the off campus, majoring in medicine. Maybe she would have had a boy she was content with being with for the rest of her life, or perhaps she may have been single. Who knows? She never would, anyway.
Kick, nicknamed for his strong kicking abilities, was supposed to be here a half an hour ago. He was never on time, she knew, but she had thought he would have tried to hurry considering the events that were occurring. Staring down at her wrist watch she watched as the second hand slowly dragged by the numbers, not really paying it any attention.
"God!" she muttered as Kick jumped out of the nearby bushes, causing her heart to contract with fear. With a confident grin he shrugged his masculine shoulders and started to walk towards her.
"Give me a break, Jaz, I couldn't resist the chance to startle the almighty slayer!" Theatrically he bowed and mouthed 'thank you' to the pretend audience. Rolling her eyes she held out her hand as he fished in his pocket.
Smoothly she pursed her lips and eyed his rather despicable attired, wondering why he had to feed before they met every time. Seeing her prying eyes he considered and shrugged again, with a devious smile.
"I enjoy my hunt," he replied and handed her the amulet. More seriously he watched her with caution as her hand tightened around the ruby. "Does this mean our business is finished?" Jasmine watched, amused, as the beads of sweat formed around his thick hairline.
"Perhaps," she said then walked away without another word. Jasmine had what she wanted, now she needed to tap into its powers. And to do that, she needed the One.
