4 Secrets to Successfully Lose the Weight

This article explains 4 little known ways to lose weight.
You want to lose weight, and you want to lose it ASAP. These six little-known nuggets of weight loss knowledge may help you get there faster:

A healthy liver helps you stay thin.

Did you know that the liver is one of the most important internal organs in your fight against fat? Your liver (if healthy) regulates the metabolism of fats and can not only burn fats, but can also pass excess fats out of the body altogether. Maintaining a healthy liver makes it easier to keep your weight under control. You can keep your liver healthy and support good liver function by avoiding excessive alcohol use and taking a daily milk thistle supplement.

Meditate to reduce stress and drop pounds.

Stress is a slow and silent killer. You know it doesn't feel good, but did you know its making you fat? Chronic stress exposes the body to high levels of a hormone called cortisol. This hormone encourages your body to store fat, especially around the midsection. This excess fat stored deep in your abdomen heightens your risk for diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Put a stop to chronic stress with exercise and mediation. Just 15 minutes a day of silent time to yourself with slow and mindful breathing is enough to significantly reduce your stress. Try it and see.

T. V. may be keeping you fat.

As much as we all love our T. V. shows, the more hours we watch the fatter we tend to be. In all fairness, it is not the programming that's packing on the lard, it's the fact that we are sedentary while watching or worse (think buttered popcorn.) Simply limiting time spent in front of the tube may help you to lose a few pounds, but not if the television is replaced by the computer screen. Another alternative is to make sure your move while you watch; you can walk on a treadmill, do jumping jacks during commercials, or fit in an entire workout during a one hour show.

Sleep more to weigh less.

Getting less than a full night's sleep releases hormones that encourage food cravings and overeating. How much sleep does one really need? Everyone is different, but the average tends to require between seven and nine hours of sleep. How many hours of shut-eye are you getting? Establish a routine and go to bed early enough to make sure you get the hours that are right for you.

Add these strategies to your weight loss program and give yourself the edge you need to succeed.
