3 Slow Cooker Pork Recipes
Here are delicious slow cooker recipes for Pork Roast, Spare Ribs and Pork Barbecue.
A slow cooker does a great job of cooking pork. Here are three delicious slow cooker pork recipes for you to try. They have all been tried and tested. My family looks forward to being served each one of them.
Slow Cooker Pork Roast
5 pounds pork roast (with or without bone are both fine)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup hot water
Coat the inside of the slow cooker or crock pot completely with vegetable oil. Turn cooker to LOW setting and allow to begin warming.
Mix pepper, chili powder, paprika, salt, thyme and water together in a bowl.
Trim excess fat from pork roast and place into slow cooker. Pour liquid spice mixture over roast and cover.
On LOW setting, allow to cook for approximately 7 to 8 hours. On HIGH setting, cook approximately 4 to 5 hours. Roast will be tender when done.
Slow Cooker Pork Spare Ribs
4 pounds pork spare ribs
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup hot water
1 onion, chopped fine
1 clove garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
1 teaspoon brown sugar
3 tablespoons yellow mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Cut spare ribs into serving sized pieces and place into slow cooker or crock pot.
Mix together the barbecue sauce, ketchup, onion, garlic, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, water, salt and pepper. Pour sauce over ribs. Toss ribs in sauce until all ribs have been fully coated on each side. Cover with lid.
Set slow cooker on LOW setting and cook for 6 to 8 hours. Cook on HIGH setting for 4 to 5 hours. Ribs are done when meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bone. The meat will fall off the bone if overcooked, so check them a few times during the last hour of cooking.
Tip: Substituting thicker country style ribs for spare ribs may require up to an additional hour of cooking time for both low and high settings.
Pork Barbecue
4 pounds pork roast, bone removed
2 cups diced tomatoes (or 1 can diced tomatoes, drained)
1/2 bottle barbecue sauce
1/4 cup vinegar (apple cider or white)
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
Mix together all ingredients except pork roast. Pour into slow cooker or crock pot.
Trim excess fat from pork roast and place in sauce mixture in cooker. Turn roast to cover both sides of roast with sauce. Cover.
Allow to cook on LOW setting for 9 to 10 hours or on HIGH for 6 to 7 hours. Roast will be tender and falling apart when done. Remove from cooker and finish shredding pork before serving on buns.
Tip: This recipe is extra tasty when served with cole slaw.
