3 Day Detox Plan

The everyday routine during the detox period should start with drinking warm water. The temperature should be kept at a level that is bearable and lukewarm water is therefore, considered as ideal. The quantity of water for this 3-day morning routine should be 8 oz. Juice of a half lemon should be mixed in this water before intake.

Detox Diet Menu
The bulk of the detox diet menu is formed by fresh vegetables and fruits. The intake of oils and butter should be reduced. Adequate liquid diet intake also is important in order to keep the intestines clean. Fibrous foods too are important from the point of removal of wastes from the body. These foods reduce the toxin content of our body and helps maintain the natural balance. Drinks like tea and coffee should not be consumed during the detox period; instead, vegetable/fruit juices are better alternatives.

Regular Food: For a single meal, intake of cereals should be just 1 cup. The cereals like wheat and brown rice should be used. Along with this 1 cup of cereals, 3 fruits/vegetables need to be consumed. One of the fruits/vegetables has to be eaten in the raw form.

Supplements: The supplements are foods other than the regular diet. Different forms of tea which can used as supplements are the fennel tea, dandelion tea, green tea and chamomile tea. Two cups of parsley tea also form one of the supplements for this detox. Amongst the vegetable supplements, beet root and carrot need to be used. One of the vegetables juices (carrot or beet root) in the quantity of two glasses should be consumed.

Side Effects of Detox Diet
The 3 day detox diet may result into few side-effects. Withdrawal symptoms are experienced by those who follow this program since, one is not used to the detox diet in everyday life. The body which is used to consuming foods with excessive amounts of sugar, processed foods and all kinds of junk foods is bound to show some withdrawal symptoms. Slight headache and irritability are the common symptoms observed during the detox period. In some cases people suffer from, diarrhea and even flu. To minimize the side-effects of detox program, one should start reducing the food intake 2-3 days before the detox program. This helps in preventing the system from experiencing a sudden shock. Engaging the mind in activities which keep it off the food is also recommended.

Our body system has to suffer from the pressure induced by toxins and other wastes on a regular basis. Such a program gives the system a much-needed break. Moreover, only the beneficial nutrients are provided to the body through vegetables and fruits. The detox program thus, helps our body to recover from the wear and tear and keeps us fit.
