woman injured after group sent grass roller crashing through tent as she slept in grounds of Aberaeron rugby club
Welsh police have arrested 21 men after a female rugby fan suffered head injuries when a group sent a grass roller crashing through her tent as she slept.

The 26-year-old, from a visiting rugby team, was camping in the grounds of Aberaeron rugby club in Wales, where a rugby sevens tournament is taking place, when the large metal roller hit her at around 1am yesterday morning.

She was taken to Bronglais hospital, Aberystwyth, and later transferred to Morriston hospital, Swansea. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Dyfed-Powys police said 21 men from the Merthyr Tydfil area had been arrested and released on police bail.

A police statement said: "In the early hours of Saturday 29 August, police were called to an incident in Aberaeron. It transpired that a large metal lawn roller, used on the rugby ground, had been rolled over a tent whilst a 26-year-old female occupant from a visiting rugby team was sleeping."

A taxi driver, Simon Childs, who was working in the area at the time, said teams from across Wales were in town for a sevens tournament.

"A group of teenagers pushed a grass roller down a hill and through a tent," Childs said. "Some of her friends witnessed it and the police carried out a identity parade under torchlight. Unfortunately the girls couldn't ID the youths."
