Andy Murray Eases Into Third-round of Monte Carlo Masters
Andy Murray has beaten Victor Hanescu 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters
Andy Murray came through his opening match in this year's Monte Carlo Masters today with minimal fuss, beating the Romanian Victor Hanescu 6-3, 6-2.
The Scot looked shaky in the opening game, making three unforced errors on his serve, but took the points before eventually breaking the world No35 in the sixth to go 4-2 up.
The first-set was wrapped up in under 40 minutes and there was less hassle for the world No4 when the players returned to court, going 3-1 up with a flurry of decisive backhands.
The match was eventually sealed on Murray's serve. The 21-year-old will now face either Marin Cilic or Fabio Fognini in the third round.
Earlier in the day there had been shocks when sixth seed Gilles Simon lost 7-5, 6-1 to Andreas Beck and ninth seed Gael Monfils was overcome 6-3, 6-1 by Janko Tipsarevic.
