United Are Better Than Porto and Will Progress, Says Confident Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has said Manchester United have respect for Porto but he is confident of reaching Champions League semi-finals
Cristiano Ronaldo has delivered a message of intent to Porto before Wednesday's Champions League return by saying that Manchester United will win because "they are the better team".
The Portuguese club were impressive when they held the European champions to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in the sides' quarter-final first-leg tie last week and are now the favourites among many observers to progress to the semi-finals on Wednesday night, particularly as they have never lost at the Dragao to an English team in the competition.
Ronaldo, however, remains confident the European champions can progress, despite their recent stutters. "When the draw was made I wanted Porto. I think we have a better team," said the winger. "But we have to respect them because they are the best team in Portugal at the moment. They have a great coach, some outstanding players but we have to show over the two legs we are better.
"We want to win everything if it's possible. I want to finish the season by winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League again. The players are positive and we believe in ourselves."
Ronaldo also hit back at critics who claim his body language has been negative this season, suggesting that he wants to move to Real Madrid in the summer.
"I am happy. I don't have to smile and show my teeth all the time to prove this," he said. "What's inside is the most important and I am happy."
