Monday's Football Transfer Rumours - Arjen Robben to Liverpool?

13 April 2009: Kevin Kuranyi to Blackburn | Liverpool move for Arjen Robben | Dennis Wise to QPR
When transfer tittle-tattle is thin on the ground, the Mill needs filler. Nothing complicated, just a few words to fill the gap between the top of the page and somewhere a little lower down. Which words we use don't really matter, as long as there are enough of them to stretch things out on mornings when the best gossip available concentrates on Blackburn's summer bid for Kevin Kuranyi.

And once we've filled enough of the screen we can get stuck in to the day's whispers on the grapevine. Blackburn, for example, are planning a summer move for Kevin Kuranyi of Schalke.

As the German striker moves in at Ewood Park, Aaron Mokoena will be heading out, most likely to Stoke, though Sheffield United showed an interest during the January transfer window.

At this point more words can be employed to keep things ticking over. Again, the actual words used don't really matter as most people will skip straight to the bold bits. By this stage it's worth throwing in the BIG rumor of the day, something along the lines of Liverpool's planned summer move for Arjen Robben. Rafa Benitez wants to test Real's resolve with an £18m bid.

And in the final paragraph ... a man in a sharp suit is standing outside the Bernabeu with a sign reading 'Mr F Cannavaro'. He's waiting to take the defender to Bayern Munich. And Dennis Wise is to be the next QPR manager.
