Andy Murray produced a scrappy performance but is through to the quarter-finals of the Abn Amro World Tennis Tournament after beating the dogged Andreas Seppi 7-6, 7-5.
Murray, the No2 seed at the Rotterdam tournament, will meet either Paul-Henri Mathieu or Marc Giquel in the last eight but was made to fight hard against the Italian, ranked 36th in the world.
The Scot twice let the advantage slip through his fingers in the first set and, despite earning four set points, was pegged back when serving for the match at 5-3. Murray was comfortable in the tie break, however, winning 7-4.
Murray was again on the back foot early in the second set, going a break down at 3-1. The world No4 broke back in the fifth game, however, then secured the crucial break in the 11th and Murray needed only one of four match points to seal victory.
