Coach Clark Quits After Gb's Women Are Relegated
Mark Clark, the head coach of Great Britain's women's team for the past three years, has resigned in the wake of their relegation from European Division A, a result that threw the team's chances of being allocated a host's spot at the 2012 Olympics into jeopardy. Clark led the team to promotion from Division B in 2007, but they struggled in a tough qualifying group last summer, finishing third in the relegation play-out series, their demotion being confirmed by a defeat to Romania in their final game. Clark, 47, resigned after weekend meetings with GB officials who will announce his successor before the women's international training camp starts in June.
