Melandri Without a Team As Kawasaki Leave Motogp
Kawasaki have withdrawn from this year's MotoGP series, leaving five-time winner Marco Melandri without a team
Kawasaki are withdrawing from the MotoGP series this year, reducing the number of competing bikes to 19. It follows Honda's withdrawal from formula one motor racing and Suzuki and Subaru quitting the world rallying championship. John Hopkins, one of Kawasaki's riders who will need to find a new team, said: "Everything is up in the air and people want answers."
Alberto Vergani, the manager of Hopkins' team-mate, Marco Melandri, who finished runner-up to Valentino Rossi in 2005, said: "If you think that [Dani] Pedrosa has won six grands prix in his career and Marco has won five, then it's obvious MotoGP can't do without someone like Melandri."
